A shipping profile is a group of products with its own delivery rates: heavy items, fragile ones, large boxes. Products in no profile use your general rates (Settings › Delivery Rates and PIN Codes), as before. Open profiles from Settings › Delivery Rates and PIN Codes › Shipping Profiles. Anyone who can see settings can open it; changing it needs the right to change settings.
Add a Profile
- Switch Shipping Profiles on and press SAVE.
- Press ADD PROFILE. Give it a Name (Heavy Items) and its Extra Handling Days (0 to 30): the days a parcel of it takes longer to send.
- Leave Start with a copy of the general rates ticked to begin from your own rates, then change them. Untick it to start empty.
- Press SAVE.
Set Its Rates
Each rate is a Delivery Method, Where (one of your zones, or everywhere else), a weight band (From Weight and Up to Weight, in grams), a Price and, if you like, Free Above. Press ADD RATE, or EDIT on a rate. A method this profile has no rate for is named on its card ("No rate for Express"): that method is not offered for a bag holding these products.
Choose Its Products
- One product: on its page, under Organisation, choose its Shipping Profile and press SAVE.
- Many: on Products, select them and press SHIPPING PROFILE in the bar, choose the profile (or General rates) and press SET PROFILE. UNDO in the message puts them back.
How a Bag Is Priced
- Each product in the bag belongs to its profile, or to the general rates.
- A delivery method is offered only when every group in the bag has a rate for it, for that group's own weight.
- The method's price is the sum of each group's rate. Each group's free above is read against the whole bag's value after discounts.
- Its delivery days add the largest extra handling days of the bag's profiles.
For example: your general Standard rate is ₹49, free above ₹999; Heavy Items has Standard at ₹150 and no Express. A bag with a ₹499 mug and a ₹4,999 shelf in Heavy Items: the mug's part is free (the bag is above ₹999), the shelf's is ₹150, so Standard costs ₹150, and Express is not offered.
Cash on delivery, PIN code rules, zones, discounts on delivery and GST on delivery work as before on the summed price. A bag with no product in a profile is priced exactly as before. The product page's delivery check answers by the product's own profile.
Test a PIN and Your Product Feeds
- Test a PIN (Settings › Delivery Rates and PIN Codes): after a test, choose Rates For a profile to see what a bag of its products is offered at that PIN code: its methods, prices and the dates a shopper would see, with its extra handling days.
- Product feeds (Google and Meta): a product in a profile shows its profile's delivery price in India (your default delivery method's rate for its weight, the highest any part of India pays) and its days plus the profile's extra days. A profile with no rate for your default method leaves its products without a delivery price, flagged as a problem on the Sales Channels screen.
Good to Know
- Removing a profile puts its products back on the general rates at once.
- With Shipping Profiles off, every bag uses the general rates; products keep their profile for when you switch it on.
- Markets abroad use the general rates.
- At most 20 profiles per store. Mercayo can set or limit the switch for your store, with a reason your admin shows.
