Settings › COD Rules and PIN Codes decides what some cash-on-delivery orders are asked at checkout, and where cash on delivery is not offered at all. Shoppers can always pay fully online instead. Changing these settings needs the right to change settings.
Part Payment Rules
Each rule checks a COD order at checkout. All of a rule's conditions must hold. Rules are checked in your order and the first that matches decides; or choose Highest advance so the rule that asks the most now decides. Each rule can be switched off, and can run only between two dates.
| Condition | Holds When |
|---|---|
| PIN code in a list | The PIN code is listed, or starts with a prefix like 4000* |
| RTO-heavy PIN code | Your settled COD parcels there came back at or over your RTO-heavy share |
| State, City | The delivery address is in one of them |
| Order total, Items in the bag | The total or the quantity is in the range |
| RTO risk level, RTO risk score | The order's RTO Shield score says so |
| First order from the mobile | The mobile has not ordered from your store before |
| Refused at other Mercayo stores | The Mercayo Trust Network says 1, 2 or 4 or more refused parcels elsewhere |
| Products, collections, categories | The bag has one of them |
| Customer tag, customer segment | The shopper's account has the tag or is in the segment |
| Day and hour | The order is placed in the window (India time) |
| Discount code used | One of the codes, or any code, is used |
| Couriers serve it without COD | Your courier account said, when a label was made, that no courier collects cash |
What a rule asks: a share of the total now (rounded up to your amount), a fixed amount now, the delivery charge now, only the COD charge now, online payment only, an extra COD fee paid in cash, or a hold for a call. Part payment needs Razorpay connected in Payments; without it, such orders are held for a call instead. You can write the words the shopper sees beside the amount; otherwise checkout uses its own.
Try a Bag
Type a PIN code, a total and, if you like, a mobile number and a code, and choose a risk level and what the network says. TRY shows which rule matches and roughly what it would ask now. The mobile is checked against your own orders only; what the network says is chosen there, never looked up.
Blocked PIN Codes
Paste PIN codes, prefixes like 4000* or ranges like 400001-400099, or choose a CSV file, then TURN OFF COD. Checkout then says cash on delivery is not available for that PIN code and offers online payment. Remove a PIN code to let COD back. You can also do this from the PIN codes table in RTO Report and PIN Codes.
The Mercayo Trust Network
Stores that take part help each other spot risky COD orders. Mercayo keeps only a sealed code of a shopper's mobile number with counts of their COD parcels at Mercayo stores over the last 12 months: delivered, refused, and cancelled before shipping. Never a name, an address, a store, a product or an amount. An order's RTO risk then shows a reason like "This mobile refused 2-3 COD parcels at other Mercayo stores", and only when the history spans at least two other stores. Checkout tells shoppers that COD orders are checked for fraud and RTO prevention across Mercayo stores. Your store takes part unless you switch Take Part in the Mercayo Trust Network off; then it neither adds to the network nor reads it, and what it added is taken back. A shopper who deletes their data in any store is removed from the network.
The Settings on This Page
- Use Part Payment Rules and When Several Rules Match.
- RTO-heavy From and Over at Least: when a PIN code counts as RTO-heavy (30% of 5 parcels by default).
- Delivery, Return and COD Charge per Parcel: the estimates behind the RTO report's money lost.
Mercayo may set any of them for your store; a locked setting says so.
