Email Look and Footer

Choose how every email to your shoppers looks (Colour Band, Card Stack or Minimal Luxe), preview any message in each look, send yourself a test, and decide what the foot of every email shows.

Every email your store sends to shoppers (the order confirmation, shipped, out for delivery, delivered, a failed delivery attempt, cancelled, refunded, review requests, bag reminders, back in stock, gift cards, downloads and codes) takes one look. Choose it on the Email Look card in Settings › Notifications, under the lists of messages. The Email Footer card under it decides what the foot of every email shows. Anyone who can see settings can open the cards; changing them needs the right to change settings, which the store's owner and admins have.

The Three Looks

LookWhat It Is Like
Colour BandA bold band in your brand colour, an illustration for each step of the order, big type. The default.
Card StackSoft cards like an app: status icons, chips and rounded buttons.
Minimal LuxeQuiet and spacious: fine lines, tracked capitals and your product photos, large.

The card shows a small drawing of each look, In use on the one your emails use now, and PREVIEW under each.

Every look is drawn in your store's own colours, fonts and logo:

  • The band takes your brand colour when light words read on it clearly, and a darker shade when they would not. Text, links and muted lines are checked against their background.
  • Buttons are always dark with light words, so they stay readable when a mail app turns on dark mode.
  • Your logo shows on the band as it is; a logo made for light backgrounds sits on a small white panel; a store without a logo gets its name in its heading font.
  • The pictures (the illustrations, icons and social icons) are made in your colours the first time a look is used, and again only when your colours, fonts, logo or name change. The first preview of a look can take a few seconds while they are made.

Square Product Photos (on by default) cuts product photos in emails to squares so every row lines up; off, each photo keeps its own shape.

Preview a Look

  1. Open Settings › Notifications and scroll to Email Look.
  2. Press PREVIEW under a look. The preview opens on a message (Order Shipped, for example), drawn with your logo, colours and sample values like the name "Priya".
  3. Switch between Colour Band, Card Stack and Minimal Luxe at the top of the preview, and choose another message from Message.
  4. Close the preview. Nothing changes until you save a look.

Choose a Look

  1. Pick the look on the Email Look card.
  2. Press SAVE in the save bar.

Every email after that uses the new look; emails already sent stay as they were. USE DEFAULT takes you back to Colour Band.

Send Yourself a Test

In any preview, press SEND TEST TO ME. The message goes, in the look you have saved, only to your own sign-in email, marked Test, and is never charged. Open it on your phone, in light and dark mode, as a shopper would. See Notifications.

The Email Footer card decides what the foot of every email to your shoppers shows. Each part is a switch:

SettingWhat It Shows
Legal NameYour business's legal name.
AddressYour business address.
GSTINYour GSTIN.
EmailYour support email, in the help part of every email.
PhoneYour support phone.
WhatsAppYour WhatsApp number.
HoursWhen you answer, beside your contact details.
Social LinksYour social pages, from your store's footer.
Shop and Policy LinksLinks to your shop and your published policies.
Powered by MercayoThe small Mercayo credit at the very end.
Your Footer NotePlain text of your own, up to 500 characters, in each language.

The details themselves come from your store's settings (Store Details, Brand and your store's footer), so a change there reaches every email. Powered by Mercayo can be turned off on the Growth and Scale plans.

What Order Emails Show

  • Each item's photo, name and price, with the price before an offer where there was one.
  • The totals, the discount code, how it was paid, and the delivery address with the phone.
  • Once shipped: the courier, the tracking number, the expected date and the order's journey (placed, confirmed, shipped, out for delivery, delivered).
  • In the delivered email, while reviews are on: five stars beside each item; a tap opens that product's review form at the stars chosen.
  • In the failed delivery email: REATTEMPT DELIVERY and UPDATE ADDRESS, which open the shopper's order page on that answer.

Change the Words

Every word in every look is in Localization. In a preview, EDIT WORDS opens it on that message. A headline's coloured words are marked with stars: Your Order Is *on Its Way*. A headline you write without stars shows plain.

Mercayo Controls

The look follows Mercayo's rule for every setting: Mercayo's override for your store if there is one, then your choice, then Colour Band. A locked setting shows Locked with Mercayo's note. "Powered by Mercayo" and Mercayo's own help link are Mercayo's words. Mercayo's own emails to you (billing, credits, support) are drawn in Mercayo's brand, not yours.

Good to Know

  • One look applies to every shopper email; campaigns use it too.
  • Every picture has its alt text and every number is live text, so an email still reads well in a mail app that blocks pictures.
  • If the pictures for a look cannot be made, the email still goes, without them.
  • A heading font you uploaded yourself is not drawn into the name at the top of an email: upload a logo in Brand to show your own lettering.

Questions

Which look should I choose?

The one that matches your store. Colour Band is bold and works for most brands; Card Stack feels like an app; Minimal Luxe suits jewellery, fashion and anything sold on its photos. Preview all three with your own logo before you choose.

Will the emails look right in dark mode?

Yes. Buttons are always dark with light words, and the band and pictures carry their own background, so Gmail's dark mode leaves them as designed. Apple Mail gets its own dark colours.

Can I use a different look for one message?

No. One look applies to all your shopper emails, so they read as one brand.

Does changing the look cost anything?

No. Choosing a look, previewing and test emails are free. Emails to shoppers are counted as before.
