A shopper buying a phone case often wants a screen guard; one buying a saree may want a matching blouse piece. Mercayo lets you pair products in two ways on the product page: Frequently Bought Together, a small set shown with the product and added in one tap, and add-ons, a short "Pairs Well With" list beside ADD TO BAG. An add-on can also have a special price when bought with the main product. All of this is set in the Sold with It card of the Product Editor.
To change pairings you need the right to edit products (the owner, admins and the Catalog Editor). Setting an add-on's special price is a discount, so it also needs the right to edit discounts (the owner, admins and the Marketer).
The Sold with It Card
The card appears on a saved product, in the side column. It has two lists and, below them, the add-on prices.
| List | What It Does | Most |
|---|---|---|
| Frequently Bought Together | "Up to 3 products shown with this one, with ADD ALL. Empty: chosen from orders when the store allows it." | 3 |
| Add-ons (Pairs Well With) | "Up to 6 products offered beside ADD TO BAG, at their own price." | 6 |
Each list shows its count ("2/3"), the chosen products as chips with a × to remove, and CHOOSE PRODUCTS, which opens a searchable product list. The order you pick them in is the order shoppers see. If you pick more than the list holds, the extra ones are dropped with "At most 3: remove one first."
The card has its own SAVE PAIRINGS button: the product's save bar does not save it. After saving: "Saved. The product page shows it at once."
How to Set Up Frequently Bought Together
Example: a phone-case brand pairing a case with a screen guard and a camera lens protector.
- Open the case in the product editor.
- In Sold with It, under Frequently Bought Together, press CHOOSE PRODUCTS.
- Tick the screen guard and the lens protector and press DONE.
- Press SAVE PAIRINGS.
When the List Is Empty
What the product page shows is set by Settings › Product Page › Frequently Bought Together:
| Choice | What Shows | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Off | No Frequently Bought Together on any product | |
| Manual | Only the products you chose | |
| Auto | Products often bought in the same orders | |
| Manual then auto | "Both: yours first, else from orders." | Yes |
With the default, a product you have not paired still gets a set picked from your orders, marked "Picked from what shoppers buy together".
How to Set Up Add-ons
- Open the main product.
- Under Add-ons (Pairs Well With), press CHOOSE PRODUCTS, tick up to 6 products and press DONE.
- Press SAVE PAIRINGS.
How many add-ons a product page shows is Settings › Bag and Wishlist › Add-ons › Add-ons Shown at Most (default 3, up to 6). The Add-ons switch on the same card (on by default) turns add-ons off for the whole store.
How to Give an Add-on a Special Price
An add-on price is "a lower price for an add-on bought with its main product", for example "Add the strap for ₹399, was ₹449".
- Save the add-ons first (above).
- In Sold with It, under Add-on Prices, press SET A SPECIAL PRICE. A new Add-on price discount opens for this product and its add-ons.
- Set the price of each add-on, the dates and any limits, and save the discount.
Back on the product, Add-on Prices lists each one: "Leather strap: ₹399 with this product", linked to its offer, with "Not live now" when it is not running. "Add-ons can cost less when bought with this product. The bag applies the price by itself."
Bundle Offers on the Product Page
A bundle is a discount for buying several items together, such as "any 2 cases for ₹1,299". When a bundle is an automatic offer with Show the bundle sizes on product pages ticked, the product page shows a Buy More, Pay Less box with the sizes, each with its price and saving, and the bag prices the group by itself. See Quantity Prices for every kind of bundle and how to set one up.
What Shoppers See
Frequently Bought Together
A Frequently Bought Together section on the product page shows This item plus your chosen products, each with a tick box to include it ("Include Screen guard") and a choice of option where needed. It shows the total, the saving on MRP when there is one ("You save ₹200 on MRP"), and a button that adds them all: ADD ALL 3 TO BAG, or ADD 2 TO BAG when some are unticked.
Add-ons
Beside ADD TO BAG, a light Pairs Well With list shows each add-on with a small picture, its price and an ADD button (for an add-on with options, ADD opens its options). An add-on with a special price says "Special price with this item" (or "…until 31 Oct" when the offer has an end date). An added one shows ADDED.
Good to Know
- A product cannot be paired with itself; it is left out if you pick it.
- Pairings are saved apart from the product, so saving pairings never touches the product's own draft, and the other way round.
- An add-on that is not active, or sold out, is not offered.
- Add-on prices are discounts: they follow the combining rules and appear in discount reports. See Combining Discounts.
- Duplicating a product does not copy its pairings.
Questions
What is the difference between Frequently Bought Together and add-ons?
Frequently Bought Together is a small set (up to 3) the shopper adds in one tap with the product. Add-ons are extras (up to 6 chosen, 3 shown by default) the shopper can add one by one beside ADD TO BAG.
Do add-ons cost less?
At their own price, unless you set an add-on price, which makes them cheaper when bought with the main product.
Why does a product show bought-together items I did not choose?
Frequently Bought Together in Settings › Product Page is on its default, which uses your orders when you have not chosen any. Choose your own, or set it to Manual.
Can I pair products in bulk?
Pairings are set product by product in the editor.
Why is there no Sold with It card on my new product?
Pairings belong to a saved product. Save the product once and the card appears.
