Route Transfers

Follow a seller's Razorpay Route payout to their bank, retry one Razorpay turned down, and take a refund back from a transfer.

When Pay sellers by Razorpay Route is on, PAY BY ROUTE on a statement moves its net amount from your Razorpay balance into the seller's linked account. Mercayo then follows that transfer until it reaches the seller's bank.

Let Razorpay Tell Mercayo

Razorpay sends its news about transfers to your store's webhook, the one you set up in Settings › Payments. In Razorpay's dashboard, open that webhook and also tick these events, then save:

  • transfer.processed
  • transfer.failed
  • transfer.reversed

Without them, CHECK TRANSFER still asks Razorpay whenever you press it.

A Statement's Transfer

Open a statement paid by Route. Razorpay Transfer shows:

  • the transfer's id (it starts trf_) and Razorpay's status: Pending, Processed, Failed, Reversed, Partly Taken Back or No Answer;
  • the settlement to the seller's bank: pending, on hold at Razorpay, or settled with its day and Razorpay's settlement id;
  • what has been taken back from it, and when Mercayo last checked.

CHECK TRANSFER asks Razorpay how the transfer stands now and updates the statement.

When Razorpay Turns a Transfer Down

  • Refused at once (for example, not enough Razorpay balance): the statement stays open with Razorpay's reason. Press RETRY TRANSFER when the reason is fixed, or MARK PAID after paying by bank.
  • Turned down after it was made (Razorpay's transfer.failed or a reversal by Razorpay): the statement opens again with the reason, and the payout is put back in the seller's account, so it can be paid again. The seller sees it in their panel's history.
  • No answer (Razorpay did not reply): the transfer may or may not have gone through, so the statement says No Answer. Look in Razorpay's dashboard first. If the transfer is there, Razorpay's notice marks the statement paid by itself. Retry only if it is not. A notice about another transfer never pays a statement that is already paid, so a seller is never paid twice.

Take a Refund Back from a Transfer

A sale becomes payable only after your return window, so most returns come in before a seller is paid. When a refund comes after, the seller owes you: their Payable in Balances goes below zero and says "Owes ₹… back".

  1. In Balances, open the seller's menu (the three dots).
  2. Press TAKE BACK BY ROUTE. It shows the amount and which seller it is taken from.
  3. Press TAKE BACK BY ROUTE again to confirm.

Razorpay reverses that much of the seller's newest Route transfer that still has enough in it, and the seller's balance comes back to zero. The statement shows what was taken back. If no Route transfer of theirs has enough left, the next statement nets it off instead, or you can ADJUST BALANCE.
