A collection can be Chosen by Hand ("You add products and set their order.") or By Rules: you describe which products belong, and the collection keeps itself up to date as you add products, change prices or run out of stock. "Under ₹499", "New in Linen" or "Everything Sale" never need editing again.
Set Up the Rules
- Open a collection (or create one) in Collections.
- Under How Products Are Chosen, choose By Rules.
- Products Must Meet: All Rules or Any Rule.
- Add Rule (1 to 20 rules; a store can have up to 100 collections by rules). Each rule looks at one thing and compares it:
| Looks At | Compares |
|---|---|
| Tag | is, is not |
| Title | contains, does not contain |
| Product Type | is, is not |
| Brand | is, is not |
| Category | is, is not |
| Price | is under, is over (some size or style costs less, or more) |
| Sale | On sale (has a compare-at price), Not on sale |
| Stock | In stock, Out of stock |
| Custom Fields | your own fields: is, is not, contains, is above, is below |
- The preview shows "24 products match", with the first ones ("Drafts count too; shoppers see only active products.").
- Save. "The products that meet the rules are added when you save."
Examples
- Under ₹499: Price is under 499.
- Summer Linen: Tag is summer and Title contains linen.
- Sale: Sale is On sale (has a compare-at price), and Stock is In stock.
Questions
Can I mix hand-picked products into a rules collection?
No: a collection is either chosen by hand or by rules.
How fast does a new product join?
As soon as it meets the rules: "Products that meet the rules join and leave by themselves as they change."
What if collections by rules are switched off?
With Collections by Rules off in Settings › Product Page (Catalogue card), rule collections keep the products they have and stop changing.
