Good codes make every stock job faster. Mercayo can fill in the SKUs and barcodes your variants are missing, print labels with each barcode, and read barcodes with your phone's camera or a USB scanner.
Generate Codes
Generate Missing Codes (or Generate Codes for a selection):
- SKUs: from the product and its options, like
KOSHA-LINENTEE-M, or a running number, likeKOSHA-000123. - Barcodes: 13-digit EAN numbers for use inside your store, read by every scanner. Use the maker's barcode instead where the product has one. (If your store prints SKUs as barcodes, no numbers are made.)
The preview lists each Variant with its new SKU and Barcode ("Every variant here has its codes already." when none are missing). Press GENERATE … (up to 2,000 variants at a time): "… variants have new codes. You can undo this for an hour." UNDO within the hour puts them back; after that, change a code in the product.
Barcode Labels
"Labels with each product's barcode, ready to print." Choose variants on Inventory's Stock tab and press PRINT LABELS, or print a transfer's labels from the transfer. Set how many of each (up to 100 variants and 2,000 labels at a time), then PRINT. Labels come on A4 sheets of 24 or 40, or 50 × 25 mm for a roll printer (LABEL SETTINGS), with the barcode and the MRP. A variant without a SKU or barcode prints "No barcode": generate its codes first.
Scanning
Wherever you count or move stock (transfers, stock counts), a Barcode or SKU field takes a scan: "Scan, or type a barcode or SKU". A USB or Bluetooth scanner types into it; CAMERA uses your phone's camera.
A Good Routine
- Run Generate Missing Codes once for your whole catalogue, choosing the SKU style your team reads most easily.
- Print barcode labels for the stock on your shelves and stick one on each box or bin.
- From then on, scan instead of typing: receiving a transfer, counting a shelf, or finding a product by its code in the admin's search.
- When you add new products, generate their codes before the stock arrives.
Questions
Will generated barcodes work in other shops' scanners?
They are for your own stock work. For selling on marketplaces that need registered GS1 barcodes, use the codes you bought from GS1 instead.
Can I keep my own SKUs?
Yes. Generating only fills variants that have no code.
