Product Stories, Highlights and Specifications

Fill in a product page's highlights, specifications, what's in the box, care notes and picture-and-text stories with pull quotes, and see where each shows.

Last updated 19 October 2026

A good product page answers a shopper's questions before they ask: what is special about it, what it is made of, what comes in the box, how to look after it. Mercayo gives every product a set of structured parts for this, in the Product Page Details card of the Product Editor. Each part shows on the product page only when you fill it in, in tidy panels that work well on a phone, and the picture-and-text stories turn a plain page into one that feels like a brand's own.

"Each part shows on the product page only when you fill it in. Move or hide the sections in the Online Store editor."

To fill them in you need the right to edit products (the owner, admins and the Catalog Editor). They are saved with the product's SAVE.

The Parts at a Glance

Empty rows are simply left out when you save, so you never have to delete a blank line.

Why You'll Love It

The highlights: three to five short lines that sell the product.

  1. Press ADD HIGHLIGHT and type a line, for example "Drop-tested from 2 metres".
  2. Add more lines (up to 8). Remove one with Remove.

Specifications

The facts, as a table of names and values.

  1. Press ADD SPECIFICATION.
  2. Type the Name (Material) and the Value (Pure silk with zari border).
  3. Repeat, up to 30.

Each row needs both a name and a value ("Each specification needs a name and a value."), and a name can be used once per product ("“Material” is listed twice."). Examples for a saree: Fabric, Length, Blouse piece, Work, Wash care, Origin. For jewellery: Metal, Plating, Stone, Weight, Closure.

What's in the Box

Everything the shopper will find in the parcel, one item a line, up to 12: "1 × Clear case", "1 × Screen guard", "Cleaning cloth". Press ADD ITEM for each.

Materials and Care

One short text, up to 600 characters: what it is made of and how to look after it. "Dry clean only. Store folded in muslin. Keep away from perfume."

Product Stories

Stories are picture-and-text sections under the product, like the sections on a brand's own website: the craft behind a handloom saree, the design of a case, the stones in a necklace.

  1. Press ADD STORY. A Story 1 block opens.
  2. Fill in:
FieldWhat It Does
Small heading (optional)A short line above the heading, like "The craft"
HeadingThe story's title. Required, up to 120 characters
TextThe story, up to 1,200 characters
Pull quote (optional): a line shown large after this storyA line to stand out, up to 280 characters
Who said it (optional)Who the quote is from, up to 80 characters; used only with a quote
PictureOne of the product's photos, or None
  1. Add more stories, up to 6. Remove one with Remove.
  2. Press SAVE.

The picture comes from the product's own photos, with that photo's alt text. On a product without photos the card says "Add photos to the product to use one here." Upload the pictures you want for stories in the Photos card first. Every product photo also shows in the gallery, so put photos meant mainly for stories at the end.

Every story needs a heading: "Each story needs a heading."

What Shoppers See

  • Why You'll Love It shows with the description, and Specifications, What's in the Box and Materials and Care as panels that open and close (the first can start open: First Details Panel in the Theme editor's Product Page section).
  • On phones, with Details on Phones set to One group of panels (the default, also in the Theme editor's Product Page section), the specifications, what is in the box, care and shipping fold into one group of panels under the buttons, so the page stays short.
  • Stories show under the product. A story with a picture sits picture beside words on tablets and computers, the sides taking turns; two stories without pictures share a row; on phones they stack. A pull quote shows large, in your theme's display font, after its story, with who said it under it.
  • Where each section sits on the page is decided by the product page template in the Page Editor, where you can move or hide sections for every product at once.

Good to Know

  • These parts are part of the product's draft: DISCARD puts them back, and someone else's newer save stops yours, as for the rest of the product.
  • If the product saves but its page details do not, the editor says "The product was saved, but its product page details were not. Please try SAVE again."
  • Duplicating a product copies its highlights, specifications, box, care and stories.
  • Shoppers' own questions about a product are answered on the Questions screen, not here.

Questions

Should I put the specifications in the description instead?

Keep the description for the story of the product, and put the facts in Specifications: they show as a tidy table and fold into panels on phones.

Can a story use a picture that is not a product photo?

No. Story pictures come from the product's photos. Upload the picture in the Photos card first.

Why don't my stories show on the product page?

Check that you pressed SAVE, that each story has a heading, and that the product page template in the Page Editor still has its stories section.

How many stories should a product have?

One to three is plenty for most products. Up to 6 are allowed.

Can I add the same specifications to many products at once?

Specifications are set product by product. Duplicate a product that has them to start a similar one with the same rows.
