Mercayo stores are designed in three places, each for one kind of decision:
| Where | Decides |
|---|---|
| Online Store › Theme (the Theme editor) | The look everywhere: preset, colours, fonts, shapes, header, cards, logo, motion |
| Section Styles (inside the Theme editor) | The layout of each part: header, menus, product cards, product page, bag, checkout, footer |
| Online Store › Editor (the page editor) | What each page says and shows: the home page's sections, banners, product page sections |
This guide takes a new store through all three. Nothing changes for shoppers until you save or publish.
Step 1: Start from a Preset
- Open Online Store › Theme.
- In Presets, press APPLY on the look closest to your brand: Classic (bright and plain), Maison (light and editorial: jewellery, fashion, home) or Neon Velvet (dark and bold).
- The preview shows it at once. "A preset changes colours, fonts, shapes and layout. The word for your bag and how it behaves stay yours."
Do not save yet: you will adjust it first.
Step 2: Make It Your Brand
- Colours: your main colour and its partners. A colour that would be hard to read is flagged.
- Typography: heading and body fonts and their sizes.
- Shape: how round buttons, cards and pictures are.
- Logo & Favicon: your logo (header and footer) and the small icon in the browser tab.
- Social Sharing: the picture shown when someone shares your store on WhatsApp or Instagram.
Use the page list above the preview to switch between Home Page, Product List, Product Page and Bag, and the size buttons to see it on a Phone.
Step 3: Mix the Layouts (Section Styles)
Open Section Styles and pick a layout for each part. Any combination works with any preset:
- Header: Classic, Centred Logo, Split Menu, Search First (big catalogues) or Minimal.
- Phone Menu: Full Panel, Accordion, Bottom Sheet, Picture Cards or an app-like Tab Bar.
- Product Cards: Standard, Overlay, Minimal, Detailed or Framed.
- Product Page: Side by Side, Stacked Photos, Thumbnail Rail, Full Width or Editorial.
- Bag: Compact Drawer, Gallery Drawer, Bottom Sheet or Mini Bag.
- Checkout: One Page, Steps or Accordion.
See Section Styles for every part and layout.
Step 4: Save the Look
Press SAVE (or Ctrl S). "Theme saved. Your store shows it now." Changed your mind later? Earlier Looks in Presets keeps your previous looks; PUT BACK brings one back.
Step 5: Lay Out Your Home Page
- Open Online Store › Editor; it opens on Home Page.
- Edit the sections: for example the Hero Slider with your best photos and a short promise, a row of categories, bestsellers, Reviews and Testimonials once you have reviews, and a Sign Up section.
- Drag sections to reorder; ADD SECTION for more.
- Check the phone preview, then PUBLISH.
Step 6: Build Your Menus
In Online Store › Menus, build the header menu from your categories and collections (with a mega panel for big catalogues) and the footer menu with your policies and contact page. See Menus.
Step 7: Check It Like a Shopper
Open your store on your own phone (with the password page on, use your password). Tap through the home page, a list, a product, the bag and checkout. Fix what feels slow to find, then save again.
Tips from Good-Looking Stores
- One main colour for buttons and links; let photos carry the rest.
- Real, bright product photos at full size: Mercayo never lowers their quality.
- Fewer home sections that each say one thing beat many that say little.
Questions
Will changing the theme change my products or pages?
No. The theme changes how things look; products, pages, logo and menus stay as they are.
Can my designer work on it without going live?
Yes. Theme changes show only in the preview until you save; page editor drafts can be shared for review before you publish.
