A good sale needs four things: a clear offer, the right dates, shoppers who notice it, and a way to see whether it worked. This guide runs a Diwali sale on a Mercayo store from start to finish. Every field of an offer is explained in the discount editor.
Step 1: Choose the Offer
| Offer | Good For | Mercayo's Kind |
|---|---|---|
| A percentage off everything or a collection | A simple, store-wide sale | Percentage |
| Every item in a range at one price ("All cases ₹499") | Clearing a category | Fixed price |
| More off as the bag grows ("₹200 off over ₹1,999, ₹500 off over ₹3,999") | Raising the order value | Spend tiers |
| "Any 2 for ₹1,299" | Moving more pieces | Bundle price |
| "Buy 2, get 1 free" | Accessories and consumables | Buy X get Y |
| A free gift above an amount | A festive extra without cutting prices | Free gift |
| Free delivery | Removing the last reason to wait | Free delivery |
Then choose the Method:
- Automatic offer: "Applies by itself in the bag when the order qualifies." Best for a public sale: nobody misses it.
- Discount code: "Shoppers type it in the bag or at checkout." Best for an early-access list, influencers (one-time codes) or a WhatsApp campaign.
Step 2: Set It Up
- Marketing › Discounts, create the discount.
- Choose its Value and Applies To (The whole order, or Chosen products and collections), and a Minimum Purchase if you want one.
- Active Dates: the start and end, in India time. Schedule it now; it starts by itself.
- Limits: total uses, one use per customer, as your plan needs.
- Status: Active ("Usable between its dates."). Save.
Step 3: Make It Visible
- Offer labels: with Offer Labels on Product Cards and Offer Label on the Product Page on (default), products in a live automatic offer for everyone show a short label like "Any 2 for ₹1,299".
- Countdown: with Offer Countdowns on, a live countdown appears in the offer's last hours (48 by default, Countdown Starts), for offers with an end date.
- The sale page:
/salelists every product with a compare-at price and, with Offers on the Sale Page on, products in live automatic offers for everyone. Add it to your header menu in Menus. - "Add more" lines: with "Add More" Lines in the Bag on, the bag tells a shopper how much more unlocks an automatic offer.
- The announcement bar and home page: a festive message and a banner in the page editor.
These switches are in Discount Settings and Online Store Settings.
Step 4: Check How Offers Combine
If you already run other offers, decide whether the sale combines with them (for example free delivery on top) and how Which Offers Win picks between them. See Combining Discounts. Test a bag yourself on the store before the start.
Step 5: Tell Shoppers
- Share a link with the code built in:
https://yourbrand.in/sale?code=DIWALI10puts the code on the shopper's bag (with Codes in Links on). - Post on Instagram and your WhatsApp status; send an offer to your WhatsApp list (Set Up WhatsApp).
- Turn on the sign-up popup with a welcome offer to catch new visitors.
Step 6: During the Sale
- Watch Home (Today So Far) and Analytics › Live.
- Keep stock honest: sold-out sizes can ask shoppers to be told when they are back.
- Answer failed deliveries and COD confirmations quickly.
Step 7: After the Sale
- Each discount's report shows its uses, the money given and the sales it brought. See Discount Report.
- Analytics › Discounts and Reports › Discounts show every offer used in the dates.
- Let the offer end by itself on its end date; it is kept for your records.
