Connect Cloudflare

If your domain's DNS is on Cloudflare, you do not need to copy records by hand. "Is your domain on Cloudflare? Give Mercayo a token for that one domain and it adds and checks the records for you." It works in Settings › Domains, under Connect Cloudflare, once you have typed your domain under Connect a Domain.

Make a Token for One Domain

1. Sign in to Cloudflare and open My Profile › API Tokens (Cloudflare's guide).
2. Press Create Token, then Create Custom Token.
3. Give it two permissions: Zone › Zone › Read and Zone › DNS › Edit.
4. Under Zone Resources, choose Include › Specific zone › yourbrand.in. Only that one domain.
5. Create it and copy the token. Cloudflare shows it once.

Mercayo refuses a token that opens more than one domain ("This token opens 2 domains. For your safety, make one for this domain only.") or that can do more than DNS ("This token can do more than DNS (…). Make one with only Zone: Read and DNS: Edit."). That keeps the token useless for anything else.

Connect It

1. In Settings › Domains, paste it into Cloudflare API token and press CONNECT CLOUDFLARE.
2. Mercayo checks the token, keeps it locked (only "Token ending …", its last 4 characters, is ever shown), and adds the records your store's names need: the TXT record that shows the domain is yours, A for yourbrand.in and CNAME for www.yourbrand.in (and for your admin address, and the email records, when you use them). All are set to DNS only.
3. It checks them at once. Most domains show Connected within a minute.

Mercayo only ever touches the names your store uses. An old A, AAAA or CNAME record at one of those names (your old shop, for example) is replaced, and the screen lists it: "These old records pointed elsewhere and were replaced. Keep a note if you want to put them back." Your MX (mailbox) records and every other name stay as they are. An existing SPF record gets Mercayo's email provider added to it rather than a second one; an existing DMARC policy is kept.

SET UP RECORDS runs it again: after you add your admin address, start email from your domain, or if someone changed a record.

Disconnect

DISCONNECT makes Mercayo forget the token. "The records it added stay in your Cloudflare DNS, so your domain keeps working." You can also delete the token in Cloudflare at any time; Mercayo then simply cannot change records any more.

Email from Your Domain

Under Email Sender, press SET UP EMAIL to send order emails from your own address, like orders@yourbrand.in. With Cloudflare connected, its records (DKIM, which signs your emails, SPF and DMARC) are added for you; otherwise add them by hand from the table. Once CHECK RECORDS shows every record Found and the domain Verified, choose the Sender Address and press SEND FROM THIS ADDRESS. Until then, "your order emails come from Mercayo's address, and shoppers' replies reach your contact email". Email from your own domain is part of every paid plan.
