This tutorial builds a Diwali home page with the AI Section Builder: a festive hero, your festive collection, a countdown to the sale's end, reviews and an FAQ. It takes about ten minutes and uses about 120 credits (your plan's monthly credits are used first; see AI Credits). Nothing goes live until step 11.
Before you start: have a festive collection (for example Diwali Gifting) and a few festive photos in Media. The AI uses only your own products, collections and photos.
Step 1: Open the Editor
Open Online Store › Editor. The home page opens with its sections on the left and the preview in the middle.
Step 2: Open the AI Section Builder
Press ASK AI in the top bar (on a phone, the sparkle button). The panel opens beside the preview. Its top line shows your credits, for example "150 of 150 credits left this month", and under the box: "A small edit uses 5 credits, a new section 15, a whole page 80. Questions are free."
Step 3: Write a Short Brief
Type what the page should do, in one or two sentences, and press SEND:
Redo the home page for Diwali: a festive hero with our Diwali Gifting collection, a countdown to 12 Nov, our best reviews and an FAQ about delivery and returns.
Step 4: Confirm the Price
A whole page is a bigger change, so a card titled A Bigger Change says "Drafting a whole page takes more work. This uses 80 credits." Press GO AHEAD. (For a single new section it says "Building a new section takes more work. This uses 15 credits.") While it works, the panel says "Building your change…". It takes about 15 seconds; afterwards the card says "Built. The change is below."
Step 5: See the Draft
The preview shows the new page and a card says Changed in Your Draft, with what changed (for example "Added Hero", "Added Countdown", "Added FAQ", "Changed the order of sections") and Used 80 credits. The sections it kept from your old page are still there.
Step 6: Keep It, or Undo It
Read the words on the page and check the photos. Press KEEP ("Kept in your draft.") or UNDO to put the page back as it was before this change. UNDO never touches changes you made since.
Step 7: Make Small Edits
Ask for small changes one at a time; each uses 5 credits and gets its own card with KEEP and UNDO:
- "Make the hero heading shorter and warmer."
- "Use the photo with the diyas in the hero."
- "Change the countdown's button to SHOP DIWALI GIFTS."
Step 8: Move and Hide Sections
- "Put the reviews right under the hero."
- "Don't show the sign-up section on phones."
Step 9: Translate It
If your store also shows Hindi: "Translate the hero into Hindi." The AI rewrites that section's words in Hindi in your draft (5 credits). For a page your shoppers see in two languages, check Online Store › Translate as well; see Translate.
Step 10: Check It on a Phone and a Computer
Switch the preview between phone, tablet and computer in the top bar. Close the panel (the X, or Back on a phone) to see the whole page.
Step 11: Publish
Press PUBLISH in the editor's top bar and confirm. Only now do shoppers see the new page. The AI never publishes.
Step 12: Undo Later from History
Changed your mind after the sale? Open HISTORY: each AI change is a line ("name asked the AI: Redo the home page for Diwali…"), and Versions lets you restore the page as it was before the sale, then publish it again.
Requests That Work Well
- "Add a Diwali banner with our festive collection and a countdown to 12 Nov."
- "Add an FAQ about delivery, returns and cash on delivery near the bottom."
- "Make the About page warmer and add a team section."
- "Add a section with three reasons to buy from us: hallmarked gold, free resizing, 30-day returns."
- "Hide the shop-the-look section for now."
Name real things in your store (a collection, a product, a photo) and say where a section goes ("under the hero").
Requests It Will Say It Cannot Do
It says so plainly, offers the closest thing, and uses no credits:
- "Make the heading glitter with an animated sparkle." (There is no such effect; it may offer the emphasis colour instead.)
- "Add this chat widget code…" (It never adds code.)
- "Play music on the home page."
- "Change the price of every case to ₹499." (Prices are changed in Products, or ask the admin assistant.)
Common Problems
- "No Credits Left": your month's credits are used. Press TOP UP CREDITS, or wait for the 1st. See AI Credits: What They Cost and How to Top Up.
- "The Page Changed": someone saved the page while you asked. No credits were used; ask again.
- A photo you expected is missing: the AI uses photos from Media and your product photos. Upload it there, then ask again.
- The words are not quite right: ask again in other words ("shorter", "warmer", "less salesy"), or edit the section's fields yourself; your edits always win.
- The button is not there: your role may not edit pages, or the owner switched the builder off in Settings › Admin Look and Dashboard › Assistants.
