Automatic Offers

Offers that apply by themselves in the bag, with no code to type: how to make one, where shoppers see them (bag lines, offer labels, the sale page, "add more" hints, countdowns) and the limits.

Last updated 19 October 2026

An automatic offer applies by itself in the bag as soon as the order qualifies: no code to remember, no coupon box to find. "Free delivery over ₹999", "20% off all sarees this weekend", "Any 2 kurtis for ₹1,299" and "Spend ₹1,499, choose a free pouch" are typical automatic offers. Shoppers notice them in the bag, and, when you allow it, as short labels on product cards, on the product page and on your sale page. Product prices themselves never change: the offer always comes off in the bag.

Making automatic offers needs the right to edit discounts (the owner, admins and the Marketer role).

How to Make an Automatic Offer

  1. Go to Marketing › Discounts and press CREATE DISCOUNT.
  2. Under Method, choose Automatic offer: "Applies by itself in the bag when the order qualifies."
  3. Give it a Title. With no code, the title is the only thing shoppers read, so make it say the offer: "Weekend sale: 20% off sarees".
  4. Choose the Value and, for chosen items, the products, collections or categories.
  5. Set a Minimum Purchase if the offer needs one, then the Limits, Combinations, Who Can Use It and Active Dates.
  6. Press SAVE.

Every field is explained in Discount Editor.

Every kind of discount can be automatic, and an Add-on price can only be automatic. Quantity prices made from a product's Quantity Prices card start as automatic offers shown on the product page.

Which Automatic Offer Applies

A bag can meet the conditions of several automatic offers. What it gets depends on each offer's Combinations ticks and on Which Offers Win in Discount Settings:

  • Offers that tick each other's kind apply together (a bundle and free delivery, say).
  • Offers that do not combine compete. With Best (the default) the shopper gets the biggest saving; with Priority your order in the Discounts list decides.
  • An offer marked Applies on its own takes the bag alone.
  • When a code and an automatic offer save the same, the automatic one wins, so the shopper's code is not used up for nothing.

Combining Discounts explains this with examples. Try any bag with the editor's Try a Bag card to see exactly which offers it gets and why.

What Shoppers See

In the Bag and at Checkout

Each automatic offer that applies is its own line in the bag, with its title and saving. When an offer applied by itself but lost to a combination that saves more, a quiet note under the lines says so, for example "Festive sale does not combine with the offers on your bag."

Offers that wait for something say what to do: "Pay online at checkout and save ₹50.", "Sign in to get ₹100 off with Members' offer.", or "Free delivery in Maharashtra applies at checkout." when it needs the delivery address.

"Add More" Hints

When a little more would unlock an automatic offer with a minimum spend or quantity, the bag and checkout say so: "Add ₹551 more to get 10% off over ₹1,000.", "Add 2 more items to get …", with Shop … to the offer's collection. Each hint is proved first: the bag is priced with the extra item added, and the hint shows only if the offer would then really apply and save more. The drawer shows one hint; the bag page and checkout show up to two, nearest first. Bundles, spend tiers, gifts and buy X get Y have their own progress lines.

Switch hints off with “Add More” Lines in the Bag in Discount Settings.

Offer Labels on Product Cards and the Product Page

A live automatic offer can put a short label on the cards of its products and under the price on the product page: "Extra 15% off", "10% off over ₹999", "Offer price ₹499", "Any 2 for ₹1,299", "Buy 3+, save 15%", "4+ at ₹199 each", "Buy 2 get 1 free", "Free gift". On the product page the label comes with "The offer comes off in your bag." and the offer's end.

Not every offer can be a label, because store pages are the same for every shopper:

  • only automatic offers, never codes (a shopper must type them);
  • only offers with no condition at all: no first order, sign-in, tier, phone list, payment way, delivery area, or days and hours;
  • only product offers (percentages or amounts off chosen items, fixed prices, bundles and quantity prices, buy X get Y) and gifts for chosen products. An order or delivery offer would be on every card, and add-on prices show on product pages already.

A card shows one label at most: the first offer that covers the product in your priority order. Labels never show on sold-out cards.

To change an offer's label, open the offer, press REPORT and use the Card Label card: switch Show a label for this offer on or off, and type your own Label Words (one line, at most 24 characters) or leave them empty to use the words in the Preview. The card also says whether the label shows now ("Shown now on 48 products.") or why not. See Discount Report.

Labels for the whole store are switched with Offer Labels on Product Cards and Offer Label on the Product Page in Discount Settings.

The Sale Page

Your store's /sale page lists products whose price is below their MRP, and, while Offers on the Sale Page is on, the products of live automatic offers for everyone too. Above the products, Offers on Now shows each such offer in words, its title, "Until 31 Oct" when it has an end, and SHOP THE OFFER, which opens the offer's first collection (else its first category). The note reads "Prices stay as marked; each offer comes off in your bag." With nothing on sale: "No Sale on Right Now."

Countdowns

An offer with an end date can count down in its last hours. The product page label and the sale page show its end date, and the shopper's browser turns it into a live countdown in the last 48 hours (set Countdown Starts from 1 to 168 hours). In the bag, an applied offer ending soon says "Case bundle ends in 3h 12m." An offer with no end date never shows a timer. Switch countdowns off with Offer Countdowns in Discount Settings.

Freshness of Store Pages

Store pages are kept ready for speed. Saving an automatic product or gift offer, or its label, refreshes them, and pages know when the next offer starts or ends, so a label appears and disappears on time. Saving an order or delivery offer does not touch store pages, because those offers show only in the bag.

Mercayo Controls

Mercayo sets how many automatic offers a store may have active or scheduled at once (100 unless Mercayo sets another number for your store): every bag is checked against each of them. Saving one more is refused until you end or archive one. Mercayo can also force or limit every setting named here for your store.

Good to Know

  • Automatic offers with conditions ("first order only", "paid online only", "weekends 10 am to 2 pm") work fine; they simply never show as labels or on product pages.
  • An automatic offer counts its uses like a code: Total Uses and Uses per Customer work the same way.
  • A bag gets the automatic offer only while it qualifies. Remove an item and the offer goes with it, and the bag re-prices at once.
  • A free gift offer that is automatic asks the shopper to choose a gift in the bag. See Free Gift Offers.
  • Bundles and quantity prices are explained in Quantity Prices; add-on prices in Bought Together and Add-ons.

Questions

Will the product page show the reduced price?

No. Prices on product pages and cards stay the product's own. The offer shows as a label and comes off in the bag. This keeps your pages fast and the same for everyone.

Why does my offer have no label on product cards?

Check that it is automatic, live, has no condition under Who Can Use It, is for chosen products (not the whole order or delivery), and that Show a label for this offer is on. The Card Label card on the offer's report names the reason.

Can I run a sitewide sale without a code?

Yes. Make an automatic Percentage offer for The whole order. It shows in the bag for every shopper. It will not show as a card label, because an order offer would be on every card; announce it in your announcement bar instead.

Can a shopper use a code on top of an automatic offer?

Yes, when both offers tick each other's kind under Combinations. Otherwise the shopper gets the bigger saving of the two.

Why does the bag say an offer "applies at checkout"?

The offer depends on the delivery area or on paying online, which are known only at checkout.

Is there a limit on automatic offers?

Yes, set by Mercayo: 100 active or scheduled at once unless Mercayo sets another number for your store.
