A Product List That Shows What Needs Fixing, and an Editor That Saves Once

Your catalogue is your shop window. Mercayo's Products screen tells you which products are missing a photo, a price, stock, a category or an HSN code, and its editor puts everything about a product on one page with one save.

In short

What It Does

The List

  • Tabs: All, Active, Draft, Archived, and your saved views, each with its count; 50 products to a page (or 25 or 100).
  • Search by title, handle, SKU or barcode; filters by stock (in, low, out, not tracked), category, collection, tag and what a product still needs; sorts by newest, oldest, recently changed, title (A to Z or Z to A), price and stock (both ways).
  • Columns: the product with its photo and how many variants, status, stock ("120 in stock", "2 out", "3 low", or Not tracked), price, HSN, tags and when it was last changed.
  • The health strip (Catalogue Health): No Photo, No Price, Out of Stock, No Category and Missing HSN, each "of N products". Press one to see exactly those products; each label explains its rule ("Products whose every variant is priced at zero").
  • Saved views (up to 20) shared by your team.
  • Bulk changes: SET ACTIVE, SET DRAFT, ARCHIVE, ADD TAG, REMOVE TAG, ADD TO COLLECTION, REMOVE FROM COLLECTION and EXPORT CSV for up to 500 products at a time, and DELETE for up to 100. Status, tag and collection changes can be undone for an hour, and an undo never overwrites an edit made since. A delete waits a few seconds on screen with UNDO before it goes.
  • Row menu: Open Product, Duplicate, See Stock, Delete.
  • CSV: EXPORT writes one row per variant (up to 10,000); IMPORT reads the same columns with a preview that lists every problem row before anything changes. For files from other platforms, see import and export.

The Editor

  • Basics: title, tagline and a description with paragraphs, subheadings, lists, bold, italics and links (pasted text keeps its words, not a stray look).
  • Options (up to 3, such as size and colour) and a Variants grid with price, compare-at price (MRP), SKU and stock.
  • Shipping and Stock per variant: weight in grams (it prices delivery and the courier label), cost (for your reports only; shoppers never see it), barcode, Track Stock and Keep Selling When Out of Stock.
  • Photos: upload many, reorder, add alt text, and a gallery per option value; pictures keep their full quality.
  • Product Page Details: Why You'll Love It highlights, Specifications, What's in the Box, Materials and Care, and product stories. Each shows on the product page only when filled in.
  • Organisation: product type, brand, categories (a searchable tree), collections, tags, and Featured Product.
  • GST: the HSN code (4 to 8 digits, with its finder), which picks the GST rate.
  • Search Engine Listing: page title and meta description with a preview of how it may look in search results.
  • Status (Active, Draft, Archived) and the Web Address.
  • Cards for what the product sells with: quantity prices, pairings and add-ons, personalisation and the devices it fits.
  • A Sales card: 30 days of units and net sales (for people allowed to see analytics).
  • One save bar for all changes, with SAVE and DISCARD; previous and next to move through the list; DUPLICATE to start a similar product as a draft.

For your store

Why It Matters

A product with no photo or no HSN code quietly costs you sales or blocks a GST invoice. A GST-registered store cannot sell a product without an HSN code, and a shopper rarely buys what they cannot see. The health strip turns those gaps into a short to-do list instead of something you discover from a shopper or your accountant.

Bulk changes with an undo let a small team tidy hundreds of products without fear: a wrong tag on 200 products is one click to take back, and a festive collection can be filled and emptied in a minute.

One save for the whole product means nothing is half-saved: price, stock, photos and description change together. And because two people editing the same product are told before one overwrites the other, a busy team can work on the catalogue at the same time.

Product details that shoppers in India ask about before buying (what is in the box, the material, how to care for it) have their own fields, so every product page answers them in the same place.

Step by step

How It Works

  1. Add or Import Products

Press ADD PRODUCT for one product, or bring many in at once: IMPORT on the list for a Mercayo CSV, or Settings → Import and Export for a file from Shopify, WooCommerce or Dukaan. Duplicate a product from its row menu to start a similar one: options, variants, photos, tags, categories and details are copied, and SKUs, barcodes and stock are left empty.

  2. Set Options and Variants

Add up to three options (size, colour, material) with their values; a variant appears for each combination. Give each a price, an MRP if you show one, a SKU and its stock. A compare-at price must be more than the price, and each SKU and barcode is unique in your store.

  3. Fill In What Shoppers and GST Need

Add photos (save the product first), the description, the product page details, a category and the HSN code. Set the weight of each variant so delivery charges and courier labels are right. The health strip on the list shows anything still missing.

  4. Save Once

The save bar collects every change; SAVE applies them together, DISCARD throws them away. If someone else saved the product after you opened it, your save is not applied and you are told to reload and see their changes first, so nobody overwrites another's work without knowing.

  5. Work in Bulk

Select products (on a phone, touch and hold), choose a bulk change, and press UNDO within the hour if it was a mistake. The undo only puts back products still as the bulk change left them. To stop selling a product but keep its history, archive it instead of deleting.

  6. Keep the Catalogue Healthy

Check the health strip each week: no photo, no price, out of stock, no category, missing HSN. Save the combinations you check often as views ("Low stock", "Diwali gifts") so the whole team sees the same list.

Your shoppers

What Your Shoppers See

Shoppers see the result on your product pages: photos per colour, clear options, an honest MRP beside the price, highlights, specifications and care notes where you filled them, a "few left" line from real counts, and sold-out options marked so nobody orders what is not there.

Settings

Settings You Control

Each one is in your admin. A new store starts with the value shown.

SettingWhat It DoesStarts As
Running Low AtA variant is low when what can be sold is above 0 and at most this; the list, Inventory and Home all use it. 0: never. (Settings → Admin and Reports → Home Dashboard)5
Low Stock NoteShoppers see "Only a few left" when a variant has this many or fewer in stock. 0 turns the note off. (Settings → Product Page → Product Page)5

Mercayo

Mercayo's Controls

Who may view, edit, import or delete products is decided by your staff roles, checked by the database on every request: viewing products, changing them, changing stock and seeing sales figures are separate rights, and a role that cannot change stock sees the stock column locked. Another store's product is simply "not found". Mercayo's team can fix the low-stock marks for a store with a reason your admin shows. How many products a store may have can be set by its plan.

Good to Know Before You Start

  • Bulk price changes, the spreadsheet grid and collections by rules are their own tools: see catalogue tools.
  • Every product photo is also in the media library, with where it is used; a product takes photos from the library with Add Photos From Media.
  • Barcodes, SKU generation and labels are on Inventory: see locations, barcodes and stock counts.
  • Up to 3 options per product; new variants of an existing product are added in its editor, not by the list's CSV import.
  • A bulk delete takes at most 100 products at a time; other bulk changes take 500.

Questions

About Products

Can I undo a bulk change?

Status, tag and collection changes can be undone for an hour. The undo only puts back products still as the bulk change left them, so a later edit is never lost. After an hour, make the opposite change instead. A bulk delete has its own few seconds of UNDO on screen before it is sent.

How many variants can a product have?

Up to three options (for example size, colour and material), with a variant for each combination you sell. Each variant has its own price, MRP, SKU, barcode, weight, cost and stock, and can be tracked or not.

Are my photos compressed?

No. Pictures keep their full quality; the store serves sizes that fit each screen, so a phone downloads a smaller copy while a large screen gets the sharp one.

What happens if two people edit the same product?

The second save is told the product was saved by someone else after it was opened, and is not applied. Reload to see their changes, then make yours again, so nobody overwrites another's work without knowing.

What does deleting a product remove?

The product with its variants, photos, stock records and reviews. Orders keep their lines and GST invoices. If you only want to stop selling it, archive it instead: it leaves the store but keeps its history.

Can I sell a product that is out of stock?

Yes, per variant: switch on Keep Selling When Out of Stock and shoppers can still order it. Inventory marks such variants TAKES ORDERS. Or switch off Track Stock for things you make to order.

Can I see how a product sells?

Yes, the Sales card in the editor shows 30 days of units and net sales, with cancelled and returned orders left out, for people allowed to see analytics. The reports go further.
