In short
What It Does
The Mercayo admin can be installed on a phone, a tablet or a computer straight from the browser, with no app store. It opens in its own window from the home screen, with Mercayo's icon, and goes straight to your store. It is the same admin you use in the browser, always up to date, because nothing of it is stored on the device.
Each person on your team can also turn on push alerts on each of their devices. An alert arrives even when the admin is closed:

Tapping an alert opens that order, shipment or return in the admin. An alert never shows the shopper's name, so a phone on a shop counter does not show customers' names to everyone nearby.
The Screen
Settings → Admin App and Alerts holds it all:
- Team Alerts: the store's two switches, push alerts for the team and the sound for new orders (for people who can change settings).
- Install the Admin: an INSTALL button where the browser allows it, or the steps on an iPhone (Share, then Add to Home Screen). It says "Installed" when you are using the installed admin.
- Alerts on This Device: TURN ON ALERTS, the three switches under Alert Me About (New Orders, Failed Deliveries, Returns and Exchanges) and SEND TEST.
- Your Devices: every browser where you turned alerts on for this store ("Chrome on Android"), when it was added and when it last got an alert, with REMOVE.
- Sound for New Orders: the store's chime, and Sound on This Device to mute it on one browser (a shared computer, say), with PLAY SOUND to hear it.
The Chime
While the admin is open, a short two-note chime plays when a new order reaches the bell. Opening the admin and looking at the bell for the first time is never "news", so it does not chime for orders that were already there.

Why It Matters
For a small store, speed after the order is what shoppers remember. An order seen at 11 in the morning ships today; the same order seen at 9 at night ships tomorrow. Email alerts help, but an email sits among others, and many owners check it twice a day.
A push alert is different:
- It arrives at once, on the lock screen, like a message.
- It goes to the right people. Each person chooses on each device, and only people whose role can see orders get order alerts at all.
- It covers the moments that need a person. A failed delivery needs an answer before the courier returns the parcel; a return needs a decision. Those alerts are where speed saves money.
- It costs nothing per alert. Unlike text messages, push alerts are free for you and for Mercayo.
Installing the admin also makes the phone admin feel like an app: one tap from the home screen, its own window, no browser bars, which suits a person who checks orders between other work all day.
Step by step
How It Works
Open Admin App and Alerts
Go to Settings → Admin App and Alerts. A role without Settings reaches the same choices from the bell's settings button.
Install the Admin
Press INSTALL where your browser offers it, or use the browser's own menu (Install app, or Add to Home Screen). On an iPhone or iPad, open the admin in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. The admin also offers to install itself in a short note, at most once a month on a device.
Turn On Alerts
Press TURN ON ALERTS and answer yes to your browser's own question. On an iPhone this works only in the installed admin (Apple's rule).
Choose What You Hear About
Under Alert Me About, keep or switch off New Orders, Failed Deliveries, and Returns and Exchanges, for this device only.
Send a Test
Press SEND TEST to see an "Alerts Are On" alert arrive on this device.
Tap an Alert to Act
When an alert arrives, tap it to open that order, shipment or return straight away.

Mercayo
Mercayo's Controls
Mercayo can switch push alerts or the chime off for a store from its console, and Mercayo's value then wins. Mercayo sends the alerts from its own servers, encrypted for each device, and only ever to the browser makers' own push services (Google, Apple, Mozilla and Microsoft). A device's push address is never shown to anyone, and each store's devices are kept apart by the database. Mercayo's demo stores never send order alerts, because their sample orders would alert every visitor trying the demo; SEND TEST still works there.
Limits today
Good to Know Before You Start
- Each device needs its own yes to the browser's question, and the browser's own settings can block alerts.
- On an iPhone or iPad, alerts work only in the installed admin, opened from the home screen.
- Up to 10 devices per person per store.
- Order alerts go only to people whose role can see orders; a suspended member gets none.
- An alert that cannot be delivered within a day is dropped rather than sent late.
- It is not a native Android or iOS app in the app stores.
Questions
About Installable Admin
Is this an app from the Play Store or App Store?
No. It installs from the browser, so there is nothing to download from a store and it is always the latest version.
Does every person on my team get the alerts?
Only people who turn them on, on the devices where they turn them on, and only if their role can see orders.
Will the alert show my customer's name?
No. It shows the order number, the total, how it is paid and the delivery city.
Can I stop alerts for a while?
Yes. Switch off the kinds you do not want, press TURN OFF for this device, or remove a device from Your Devices.
Why did a test alert work but no order alert came on the demo store?
Demo stores never send order alerts. On your own store, alerts come for real orders.
Does the installed admin work offline?
No. It always shows live data, so it needs a connection, just like the admin in the browser.
Do alerts replace the order emails?
No. Order alert emails keep going to the addresses you chose; push alerts are an extra, per device.
