Import and Export
Bring Your Catalogue From Shopify, WooCommerce or Dukaan, and Take Your Data Anywhere
Moving to Mercayo should not mean retyping your catalogue. Upload the export file from your old platform, see exactly what will happen, and import products, pictures and customers in one go. Your data stays yours: export all of it whenever you like.

Kosha is a demo store on Mercayo. Its products, orders and customers are sample data.
In short
What It Does
Settings → Import and Export has three tabs: Import, Export and Settings.
Import
Files Mercayo reads, as they come out of each platform:
| From | What |
|---|---|
| Shopify | products (variants, up to 3 options, variant pictures, SEO) and customers (with consent per channel, the default address, tags, note) |
| WooCommerce | products (simple and variable with their variations; the sale price, with the regular price as MRP; categories as paths; brands and HSN) |
| Dukaan | products (variants with MRP and selling price, sizes and colours) |
| Mercayo | your own products and customers CSV, to move or restore a catalogue |
You choose the platform; a file that looks like another platform's is refused with its name. Excel files ask to be saved as CSV; files up to 20 MB, in the common text encodings, are read.
Preview first, nothing changes until IMPORT. CHECK FILE runs the real import rules on every row and rolls them back, so the preview's numbers (to make, to update, with problems, pictures to copy, categories, collections and brands it would add) are exactly what IMPORT will do. Every problem row is listed, and DOWNLOAD REPORT gives them as a CSV.
Re-runs update, never duplicate: products match by handle, else by a variant's SKU; customers by email, then by phone (written the Indian way: 098400 55555 becomes +91 98400 55555). New products come in as drafts unless the file says otherwise.
Pictures named by a link are copied into your store's own media, checked to be real pictures, without recompressing them; a link that fails is counted, never left as a broken photo.
Consent is never invented: an imported "no" to marketing always counts, and a "yes" never overrules a choice already made in your store or an unsubscribe.
The import runs in the background; you can leave the page, and CANCEL stops it between batches.
Export
Choose the parts (products, customers with addresses, orders with lines, discounts, pages and blog posts, reviews) and PREPARE EXPORT. You get one ZIP with a CSV and a JSON file per part, ready for a spreadsheet, kept for 72 hours to download from the admin, and an email when it is ready.
What Moves, and What Does Not
| From the File | What Mercayo Does |
|---|---|
| Products, variants and options (up to 3) | made by handle, or updated when the handle (or a variant's SKU) already exists |
| Prices and MRP | set on each variant; WooCommerce's sale price becomes the price and its regular price the MRP |
| Categories, collections, brands | made when missing (you can switch this off), with category paths kept |
| Pictures named by a link | copied into your store's own media at their full quality |
| Customers | matched by email, then phone; addresses, tags and notes kept |
| Marketing consent | kept per channel, never invented |
| Orders, reviews, blog posts | not imported from other platforms |
After an import from another platform, add URL redirects from your old product and collection addresses, so shoppers and search engines that know the old links land on the new pages.
For your store
Why It Matters
Most merchants who come to Mercayo already sell somewhere. Re-entering a catalogue by hand takes days and invites mistakes; a preview that shows every problem before anything changes makes a move safe.
And a platform you cannot leave is a risk. A full export, in plain CSV and JSON, means your products, customers and orders are always yours.
Step by step
How It Works
Export From Your Old Platform
Download the products (and customers) export from Shopify, WooCommerce or Dukaan as CSV.
Check the File
In Settings → Import and Export → Import, choose what and where it came from, add the file, and press CHECK FILE.
Read the Preview
See what will be made and updated, the pictures to copy, and every problem row. Fix the file and check again if needed.
Import
Press IMPORT and follow the progress. Products arrive as drafts (unless the file sets a status); review them and set them active.
Export Whenever You Like
On the Export tab, choose the parts and press PREPARE EXPORT; download the ZIP from the admin within 72 hours.
Settings
Settings You Control
All are under Settings → Import and Export → Settings.
Mercayo
Mercayo's Controls
How many rows one import may have, how many pictures may be copied, and how many exports a day are set by your plan and by Mercayo. Mercayo's team can lock any of the store settings, with a reason your admin shows. Imports run as the person who started them, with their rights checked again for every batch; customer exports need the right to export customers.
Limits today
Good to Know Before You Start
- Orders cannot be imported from another platform; products and customers can.
- Reviews, pages and blog posts are exported but not imported from other platforms.
- Row and picture limits per import depend on your plan.
- Excel files must be saved as CSV first.
Questions
About Import and Export
What happens to products that fail?
They are listed in the preview with their row, handle and reason, and in DOWNLOAD REPORT. Nothing is imported until you press IMPORT, and rows with problems are left out while the rest go in.
Will my old links still work?
Mercayo cannot change your old platform's addresses, but you can add URL redirects from them to the new pages, so shoppers and search engines follow them.
Will importing twice create duplicates?
No. Products match by handle (or a variant's SKU) and customers by email or phone, so a second import updates what is there.
Are my product pictures moved too?
Yes, pictures named by a link in the file are copied into your store's own media at their full quality. A picture that cannot be fetched is counted in the result.
Do imported customers get marketing?
Only where the file says they agreed, and never against a choice already made in your store or an unsubscribe.
What is in the export?
One ZIP with a CSV and a JSON file for each part you choose: products, customers with addresses, orders with lines, discounts, pages and blog posts, reviews.
Can I leave the page while it imports?
Yes. The import runs in the background; come back to see its progress and result.
