An Account for Every Customer

A guest's first order makes their account in your store at once, and one email with a button signs them in to see their orders. No passwords; on from the start.

Every customer who orders from your store gets an account, without making one. When a guest places their first order, Mercayo makes their account in your store at once and sends them one email, Your store name account is ready, with a button that signs them in and opens their orders. There are no passwords: next time they sign in with a one-time code sent to their phone or email, as every shopper does. It is on from the start, in Settings › Shopper Accounts, as An Account for Every Customer Who Orders.

What Happens After a Guest's Order

  1. The guest places an order (cash on delivery, or paid online once the payment is through).
  2. Their account is made in your store with the order's details: the email they typed, the name on the address, and their mobile number when they confirmed it with a code at checkout. The order joins the account.
  3. One email goes to the order's email from your store's own sender: "Your Kosha account is ready" (with your store's name), a short line on what the account is for, and SEE MY ORDERS.
  4. The thank-you page says Your Account Is Ready: "We have emailed you a link that signs you in to see this order. No password needed."
  5. The shopper taps the button. Your store's page opens, says Signing You In and opens My Orders, signed in.

The account is an ordinary account of your store: it shows in Customers with its orders, and the shopper can add addresses, change their details or delete it from their profile.

When Nothing Is Sent

The email goes at most once per shopper per store. It is not sent when:

  • the shopper already had an account in your store (with that email or that confirmed mobile number);
  • the shopper was signed in when they ordered;
  • the order has no email (when you made the email optional in Checkout Fields). With a mobile number confirmed by a code, the account is still made, without an email;
  • the order was made by your team (Orders › Create Order);
  • your store is a demo store;
  • you switched An Account for Every Customer Who Orders off, or switched shopper accounts off.

Two accounts are never made for one person: an earlier record with the same email (a guest's, or a customer your team added) becomes the account, and an email typed at checkout never opens somebody else's account.

  • It works only in your store, and only for that shopper's account.
  • It works for 7 days and at most five sign-ins. After that, the page explains and offers SIGN IN WITH A CODE.
  • Opening the link shows your page, which signs in: email services that check links before delivery do not sign anyone in.
  • Mercayo keeps only a fingerprint of the link, and removes the link from the message record once the email is sent.
  • The email asks the shopper not to forward it, because anyone with it can open the account while it works.

Opening the link also confirms the shopper's email, so later email codes reach the same account.

Your Words and Your Look

The email uses your email look and your store's sender, like your order emails. You can change its words in Settings › Localization (the email texts under Account ready); the lines about the link's safety are Mercayo's. It is listed as Account Ready on Notifications and counts like your other shopper emails.

A store in agency (white label) mode sends it only through its own email sender; until that sender is connected, the email waits and goes out once it is, like the store's other emails.

Switching It Off

Open Settings › Shopper Accounts and switch off An Account for Every Customer Who Orders. Guests then stay guests until they sign in themselves (their earlier orders join their account at that first sign-in). Mercayo can also fix this setting for a store, with a reason shown beside it.
