Open Customers › Blocked Buyers to see every buyer you blocked, why, and what recognises them.
Block a Buyer
On an order or a customer, the Buyer Limits card says how many of your orders recognise this buyer and by what. Press BLOCK THIS BUYER (also in the order's and the customer's actions), then choose:
- COD Only: they can still order and pay online.
- All Orders: they cannot place any order, online or cash on delivery.
Add a reason for your team (the buyer never sees it) and, if you like, the words the buyer sees at checkout, in each of your store's languages. Empty, checkout says politely that it cannot take their order, and never how they were recognised. The activity log keeps who blocked whom, and when.
How a Blocked Buyer Is Recognised
The block remembers the buyer's mobile numbers, emails, account, delivery addresses and browser from the order or the customer, and from their earlier orders. When someone checks out with any of them (a new mobile number with the same email, or the same address and a new email), checkout recognises them as soon as they type it: cash on delivery is greyed with your words, or ordering is closed. Placing the order checks again, so it cannot be skipped. Which signals count is your choice in COD Rules and PIN Codes; only your store's orders are used, never another store's.
The list shows how often checkout has recognised each blocked buyer since, and by what.
Orders Your Team Makes
An order your team makes for a blocked buyer shows a warning with the reason. You can still create it; the activity log notes it.
Unblock
Open the buyer on the list (or their order or customer) and press UNBLOCK. They can order again at once. Erasing a buyer's data also takes them out of every block.
Limits for Everyone
To limit cash on delivery for every buyer, for example 3 COD orders in 60 days, add a COD rule with the condition Buyer's orders in COD Rules and PIN Codes.
