Free Gifts
A Free Gift the Shopper Chooses
"Spend ₹1,999 and choose a free gift" feels generous because the shopper picks it. Mercayo shows the choice in the bag, keeps it to what is in stock, and puts the gift on the order and the packing slip.

In short
What It Does
A free gift offer is a discount of the kind Free gift: buy something, choose a gift.
- The condition is a minimum amount or a number of items, read before any discount. It can count anything in the bag or only chosen products, collections or categories.
- The choices are 1 to 12 products. The shopper chooses one; with one choice in stock, it is chosen for them.
- The gift line is added at ₹0, with its usual price shown as what it is worth. Nothing else in the bag changes price, so your delivery threshold, the cash on delivery limit, GST and other offers are untouched.
- Stock is real: sold-out choices are greyed and cannot be picked, the gift's stock goes down when it is ordered, and if a chosen gift sells out the bag simply asks again.
- Uses are counted like any discount, so a total limit and uses per customer work.
A gift offer can be automatic or a code, with dates and the Who Can Use It conditions. With its Combines With switch on, the gift comes on top of the bag's other offers; off, only when no other offer applies. A gift for chosen products can show as a "Free gift" label on their cards.
On the order, the gift is its own line marked as a free gift, on the order page, the packing slip and the shopper's emails, so your packing team never forgets it.
When Several Gift Offers Apply
One gift per bag. When more than one gift offer could apply, the shopper's own choice wins, then the bag's code, then the oldest automatic offer whose condition is met. A gift changes no price, so whether it comes on top of other offers depends only on its own combines switch: on, the gift is added beside the bag's price offers; off, it applies only to a bag no price offer touches.
Short of the condition, the bag says how far the shopper is, for example "Add ₹350 more to choose a free gift".
For your store
Why It Matters
A gift often feels like more than a discount of the same value, and it costs you the gift's price, not its MRP. It is a good way to move slower accessories, samples or a new range: a shopper who tries your new lip balm free may buy it next time.
Letting the shopper choose matters. A gift they picked is a gift they want, and choosing is a small moment of delight in the bag.
The threshold does the selling: "Add ₹350 more to choose a free gift" is often all it takes to add one more item. And because the gift is a ₹0 line, it never confuses the invoice: GST stays on what was sold, and your accounts stay simple.
Step by step
How It Works
Create a Free Gift Offer
In Discounts → CREATE DISCOUNT, pick Free gift under Value: "Buy something, choose a gift. The gift is added at ₹0; nothing else changes price." Choose Automatic offer, or a code if you want it only for shoppers who have it.
Set the Condition
Under Minimum Purchase, set an amount or a number of items. Under What Counts Towards the Minimum, choose Anything in the bag or Chosen products, collections or categories.
Choose the Gifts
In Gifts to Choose From, press BROWSE PRODUCTS and pick up to 12 options. Each gift's stock goes down when it is ordered, and sold-out gifts are greyed in the bag.
Decide How It Combines
A gift changes no price, so only its own switch decides: on, the gift comes with the bag's other offers; off, only when no other offer applies. Add dates and limits, and save.
Pack It With the Order
The order arrives with the gift as its own line at ₹0. The order page and the PACKING SLIP show it, so it goes in the box.
Your shoppers
What Your Shoppers See
In the bag, shoppers see Choose Your Free Gift with the choices as cards; a tick marks the one they picked, and sold-out ones are greyed. Before they qualify, the bag says how far: "Add ₹350 more to choose a free gift". The chosen gift sits in the bag as "Free gift, worth ₹499" at ₹0, and appears on the order and in the order emails as a free gift.

Mercayo
Mercayo's Controls
Mercayo's team can switch free gifts off or on for your store, or lock the label switch, with a reason your admin shows beside the locked setting and a record in Mercayo's audit log. When gifts are off, no gift offer applies at all, so a shopper is never promised a gift they cannot see. Mercayo never chooses your gifts or edits your offers.

Good to Know Before You Start
- One gift per bag: there is no "choose 2 gifts".
- A gift adds no weight to the delivery rate.
- One-time codes cannot be made for a gift offer; a gift code is the offer's own code.
- A gift on any order (not for chosen products) does not show as a card label; say it in your announcement bar.
Questions
About Free Gifts
Does a free gift combine with my other offers?
Only its own combines switch decides, because a gift changes no price. With it on, the gift comes on top of the bag's price offers; with it off, only bags no price offer touches get the gift.
Does the free gift affect GST?
The gift line is ₹0 with no tax, so the taxable value of what was bought is unchanged. Check with your accountant if your business treats gifts in a special way.
What if the gift sells out?
Sold-out choices are greyed and cannot be picked. If the chosen gift sells out before checkout, the bag's price stays the same and the picker asks the shopper to choose again; it never turns into a checkout error.
Can the gift be added without the shopper choosing?
When only one choice is in stock, it is chosen for the shopper. Otherwise they choose, so the gift is always one they want.
Does the gift count towards free delivery?
No. The gift is ₹0, so it changes neither the bag's total nor the free-delivery amount. It also adds no weight to the delivery rate.
Can a gift come with a discount code?
Yes, when the gift offer's combine switch is on: the gift comes on top of the bag's price offers. Off, the gift applies only when no other offer touches the bag.
Can I limit a gift to first orders or one area?
Yes. A gift offer takes the same Who Can Use It conditions as any discount: first orders only, signed-in shoppers, a reward tier, payment, delivery area, and days and hours.
Does a gift count as a use of the offer?
Yes. Every order with the gift records a use of the offer (at ₹0), so a total use limit and uses per customer work as they do for any discount, and a cancelled order gives its use back.
