Packing Slips

Packing Slips for One Order or a Whole Stack

The packing slip is what your team packs from and what the shopper finds in the box. Mercayo prints it with everything that matters for that parcel, and never a price.

In short

What It Does

A packing slip is one printed page per order, made from the order itself:

  • your store's name and "Packing Slip" at the top;
  • the order number and the date it was placed;
  • Ship To: the shopper's name, the address lines, city, state and PIN code, the landmark when they gave one, and their phone number;
  • each item with its variant (size, colour…), its SKU and the quantity, with "Free gift" beside an item that came free with an offer;
  • personalisation the shopper chose, such as initials to print, a name, a foil colour or their photo, under the item it belongs to;
  • for a cash on delivery parcel, "Collect ₹1,299 in cash on delivery", so the packer can check the courier label carries the same amount;
  • Note from the Shopper, the note they added in the bag ("Please deliver after 6 pm");
  • for a gift, the Gift Message, and "Gift: Please Wrap" when gift wrap was asked for;
  • a closing line: "Thank you for shopping with" your store.

No Prices, on Purpose

The slip never prints prices or totals: the GST invoice is the document with the money on it, downloaded or emailed separately. That keeps the slip safe to put in any parcel.

For a gift, the shopper can tick Hide prices on the packing slip at checkout (ticked to start with). Then the slip also leaves out the cash amount, so a cash on delivery gift carries no amount at all inside the box. The courier's own label still shows the cash to collect, as couriers need it.

One or Many

  • One order: press PACKING SLIP on the order's page and print. The slip is the only thing that prints from that page.
  • Many orders: select up to 100 orders on the Orders list and choose PRINT PACKING SLIPS in the bulk bar. A Packing Slips page opens with "12 slips, one to a sheet", shows them on screen, and opens your browser's print dialog by itself.

Anyone on your team who may see orders can print slips, even without the right to change orders, so a packing helper can have a view-only role.

For your store

Why It Matters

Mistakes in packing cost far more than they look: a wrong size sent to a small town comes back as an exchange with two courier charges; a missing gift message spoils a birthday; a price slip in a present embarrasses the person who sent it. A slip that carries the SKU, the note, the gift details and the personalisation in one place makes packing right the first time, even for a new helper during a festive rush.

The COD line helps too. Cash on delivery is how many Indian shoppers pay, and the packer checking "Collect ₹1,299" against the courier label catches a wrong amount before the parcel leaves, not at the shopper's door.

Printing many slips at once from the Orders list also makes a busy dispatch day orderly: select today's confirmed orders, print one stack of slips, one per parcel, then generate the labels for the same orders. The slip and the label meet at the packing table, and nothing is copied by hand.

Step by step

How It Works

  1. From One Order

    Open the order in Orders and press PACKING SLIP at the top of its page. Your browser's print dialog opens with the slip alone: print it, or save it as a PDF from the dialog if you keep slips on file.

  2. From the List

    On the Orders list, select orders (the To Ship tab is a good start) and choose PRINT PACKING SLIPS in the bulk bar, up to 100 at a time. The Packing Slips page shows each slip on screen and opens the print dialog; press PACKING SLIP there to print again.

  3. Pack From It

    Pick each item by its SKU and variant, check the quantity and any personalisation, and read the shopper's note and the gift lines. For a cash on delivery parcel, check that the courier label's amount matches "Collect ₹… in cash on delivery". Put the slip in the box.

  4. Label and Hand Over

    Back on the Orders list, select the same orders and press GENERATE LABELS for the courier labels through your Shiprocket account (see shipping labels), stick them on, and hand the parcels over.

Your shoppers

What Your Shoppers See

The slip in their parcel: what is inside, with sizes and variants, their own note, and, if it is a gift, the message they wrote, with no prices and no cash amount when they asked to hide them. A personalised item comes with the details they chose, so they can see at a glance that it was made as they asked.

Mercayo

Mercayo's Controls

Packing slips are made by Mercayo from the order itself, so they always match it: the same items, the same note, the same gift details your team sees on the order page. Mercayo's team can fix or limit the gift and order note settings for a store, with a reason your admin shows and a record in Mercayo's audit log; the slip itself has no settings of its own. Slips are printed in your browser, so nothing is sent to anyone else.

Good to Know Before You Start

  • The slip's layout is the same for every store (your store name and details on it); it is not edited in the page editor.
  • The slip prints no prices or totals; the GST invoice is the document with the money on it.
  • Courier labels are separate: they come from Shiprocket.
  • Up to 100 slips print at once from the Orders list.

Questions

About Packing Slips

Does a gift slip really hide every price?

The slip never shows prices for any order. For a gift with "Hide prices on the packing slip" ticked, it also leaves out the "Collect ₹… in cash on delivery" line, so no amount appears inside the box. The courier's own label on a cash order still shows the amount to collect.

Can I print many slips at once?

Yes. Select up to 100 orders on the Orders list and choose PRINT PACKING SLIPS. They open on one page, one slip to a sheet, and the print dialog opens by itself.

Are personalised details on the slip?

Yes. The choices the shopper made, such as initials to print, a name, a foil colour or an uploaded photo, are printed under the item, so the right item is made and packed. See personalisation.

Does the slip show the shopper's phone number?

Yes, under Ship To, with the name, address, landmark and PIN code. It helps your team call the shopper before packing if something is unclear, and it matches what the courier label carries.

Can I put the invoice in the box instead?

You can download the GST invoice from the order's page, or many at once with DOWNLOAD INVOICES on the Orders list, and print it beside the slip. For a gift, you may prefer to leave the invoice out: the shopper can download it from their order page.

Can staff who cannot edit orders print slips?

Yes. Printing slips only reads the orders, so a role that may view orders can print them, with the CSV and invoice downloads; changing orders, such as generating labels, needs the right to edit orders.
