Page Speed
A Fast Store on an Ordinary Phone, Without Lowering a Single Photo
Shoppers on a mid-range phone and a patchy 4G connection decide in seconds whether to wait. Mercayo keeps every store page ready to send, refreshes it the moment you change something, and never trades picture quality or fresh prices for speed.

In short
What It Does
Speed on Mercayo is built in, not a setting. These are the parts that do it.
Pages kept ready. A product page, a collection or your home page is the same for every shopper, so Mercayo builds it once and keeps it ready in memory. The next shopper gets it straight away. What is personal (the bag count, the pressed wishlist hearts, the signed-in name) fills in after the page arrives, in spaces that keep their size.
Fresh the moment you change something. Every change your team saves that shoppers can see (a price, a photo, a menu, a published page) marks the store's kept pages as old at once. The pages your shoppers visit most are then rebuilt in the background, home page first, so the next visitor gets the new page already prepared. An order does not empty the store's pages; only a product going in or out of stock does.
Live where it must be. The bag, checkout, account, wishlist, tracking and thank-you pages are never kept: prices, stock and payment are always worked out fresh.
Ad links stay fast. Tracking parts that ads add to a link (utm_ tags, fbclid, gclid) are ignored when finding the kept page, so a shopper from an Instagram or Google ad gets the ready page.
One request per page. Each page gets everything it shows in one trip to the server, not a chain of calls from the phone. Lists send only what a product card shows.
Photos at full quality, sized for the screen. Your originals are kept as you uploaded them. Shoppers get a copy at the width their screen needs, from 160 to 2048 pixels, as WebP (or JPEG for browsers without it). Photos below the first screen load as the shopper scrolls, and every photo has its size set in advance, so nothing moves when it arrives.
Safe when something fails. A page built while a part of the system was briefly unavailable is never kept; shoppers get the last good copy instead.
For your store
Why It Matters
Most shoppers in India browse on mid-range Android phones over mobile data that is fast one minute and slow the next. A page that takes a long time to show anything, or jumps as it loads so the shopper taps the wrong thing, loses them, and often loses them for good.
Speed tricks usually cost something: compressed photos that make a ₹2,000 product look like a ₹200 one, or cached pages that show yesterday's price. Mercayo refuses both. Photos stay at the quality you uploaded and are only resized for the screen, and the page cache is cleared by your own changes, not by a timer, so a sale price is right the moment you save it.
You do not need a developer, a speed plugin or a content delivery setup to get this. It is how every store on Mercayo runs, from the first day.
Step by step
How It Works
You Change Something
You save a new price, publish a page in the editor, or reorder a menu. In the same moment, every kept page of your store is marked as old, so no shopper can be sent a page from before your change. Drafts you are still editing change nothing for shoppers.
Your Busiest Pages Are Rebuilt
Mercayo remembers your store's most visited pages. A second and a half after your change (so a burst of saves counts as one), it rebuilds them one at a time, the home page first. The next shopper finds the new page already prepared, instead of waiting for it to be built.
A Shopper Opens a Page
The page arrives ready, with its photos sized for the screen and their space already set aside. Then the personal parts fill in: the bag count, the hearts the shopper pressed, their name if signed in. Because these keep their size, nothing on the page moves. Photos below the first screen wait until the shopper scrolls near them, so the first screen gets the whole connection.
They Tap Through the Store
Moving to another page fetches only the data that page needs, in one request, and that data is kept ready too. While it comes, the current page stays on screen under a soft veil instead of going blank, and every tap shows that it was felt. See Loading and Motion.
Heavy Parts Wait Until They Are Needed
Videos load only when a reel comes near the screen or a shopper taps a video's cover; the photo cropper for personalisation loads only when a shopper picks a photo; marketing tags load only after the shopper agrees to them in the cookie banner. The page itself never waits for them.
- A Shopper Opens a PageThe home page, a collection or a product.
- A Ready-Made PagePages are kept ready, the same for every shopper, so they leave our server at once.
- You Change SomethingA price, a product, a menu or a page, in your admin.
- Only Those Pages Are RebuiltThe change clears the pages it touches and they are built again. Shoppers never see the old price.
- The Shopper's Own PartsThe bag, the wishlist and sign-in load after the page, so a ready page never shows anyone else's.

What Your Shoppers See
Shoppers see your pages appear quickly, even on a mid-range phone and a busy mobile network, with photos as sharp as you uploaded them and nothing jumping as the page finishes. Taps answer at once: the page they are leaving stays visible under a soft veil until the next one is ready, instead of a blank screen. Prices, stock, the bag and checkout are always current, so what they see is what they pay. When they come from an Instagram or Google ad, or a link shared on WhatsApp, the page is just as quick as for anyone else.

Mercayo's Controls
Speed is not something a store switches on or off, so there is nothing to set and nothing for Mercayo to override. Mercayo runs the page cache, the photo sizing and the rebuilding for every store in the same way, and keeps each store's kept pages apart from every other store's: a page of yours is only ever sent for your store's addresses. Mercayo sets speed targets for every store page, including the largest paint under 2.5 seconds and layout shift under 0.1 on a mid-range phone profile, and measures pages against them in its browser tests.

Good to Know Before You Start
- Mercayo publishes its speed targets, not measured timings for your store: real speed also depends on the shopper's phone, network and how many large sections a page holds.
- Pictures are served as WebP or JPEG; AVIF is not used.
- Photos are resized for each screen but never compressed below the quality you uploaded, so a very large original still means a larger file at the biggest widths.
- A product list with more than three filters chosen at once is built fresh each time rather than kept ready.
Questions
About Page Speed
Do I need to do anything to make my store fast?
No. Every store on Mercayo is served from the page cache, with photos sized for each screen, from the first day. What helps most from your side: good photos rather than very large ones, and pages that hold what shoppers need rather than many heavy sections.
Will a shopper ever see an old price?
No. Your change marks the kept pages as old the moment it is saved, and the bag and checkout always work prices out fresh. A kept page is never older than your last change. Prices in the bag and at checkout are always worked out from your current prices and offers, even if a page was opened earlier.
Are my photos compressed to make pages lighter?
Never below the quality you uploaded. Your original is kept as it is. Shoppers get a copy at the width their screen needs, so a phone does not download a photo made for a large monitor, but the picture is not made worse to save space.
What are Mercayo's speed targets?
For a store page on a mid-range phone profile: the largest paint under 2.5 seconds (Google's "good"), layout shift under 0.1, a response to a tap under 200 milliseconds, and another store page shown under a second after a tap. These are targets Mercayo builds to and tests against, not a promise for every phone and network.
Does it matter that I run ads?
It helps. The tracking parts ads add to a link are ignored when finding the ready page, so a shopper from an ad is served as quickly as anyone else. The tags are still in the address the shopper opened, so your ad and analytics tools see them as usual.
What happens if something on Mercayo's side fails for a moment?
A page that could not be built properly is never kept. Shoppers get the last good copy of it, and the page is rebuilt once everything answers again. Pages that could be built normally are kept as always, so one brief failure never fills your store with broken pages.
