Closed Days, Holidays and Cut-off

Closed Days and Cut-off: Delivery Dates You Can Keep

A shop that closes on Sundays, or for Diwali, should not promise a delivery date it cannot keep. With Closed Days on, Mercayo counts from your next open day everywhere a date is shown, and can tell shoppers on every page while you are away.

In short

What It Does

Closed Days has two parts:

  • Weekly off days: any of Monday to Sunday you never send parcels, chosen with seven buttons (never all seven).
  • Holidays: a name, a first and a last day (60 at most) and, if you like, a short notice in your own words.

While it is on, the day a parcel can leave is your first open day from today, then your handling days (Store Details' dispatch days) counted on open days only. Every delivery date counts from that day:

WhereWhat changes
The product page"Arrives between" and "Get it by" start from the day it can leave
The bagThe delivery line's date, the same way
CheckoutEach delivery speed's dates

Transit after that still counts Monday to Saturday, as before. Orders are always taken: a shopper can order on Diwali and see the honest date.

The Daily Cut-off

Daily Order Cut-off is its own switch on the same page. Pick the time (2:00 pm to start with, in half hours, your store's time): an order placed at or after it counts from the next day, or the next open day while Closed Days is on. Until the time passes, the product page's delivery check says "Order by 2:00 pm to send today". The same day counts on the product page, the bag, checkout and the admin's Test a PIN.

The Holiday Notice

While today falls in one of your holidays, the store shows one slim line on every page: your own notice for that holiday, or Mercayo's words with its name, when it ends and when orders are sent. It appears and goes at midnight India time by itself; a cached page is rebuilt at that moment.

For your store

Why It Matters

A missed promise costs more than a later one. A shopper who is told "Get it by Tuesday" on a Saturday, while you are closed on Sunday and Monday, waits, then writes, then sometimes refuses the parcel. Counting from your real dispatch day keeps every date honest without closing the store.

The notice says the same thing up front during a festival, so nobody wonders why their order has not moved.

Step by step

How It Works

  1. Switch It On

In Settings → Delivery Rates and PIN Codes → Closed Days, switch Closed Days on and press the days of the week you never send parcels (Sunday, for example). Press SAVE. The line at the top says when an order placed now leaves.

  2. Add Your Holidays

Press ADD HOLIDAY, give it a name (Diwali), its first and last day, and, if you like, a notice in your own words ("We are closed for Diwali. Orders placed now are sent on 13 Nov."). A holiday in progress is marked Closed Now, one within 30 days Coming Up.

  3. Choose the Notice

Holiday Notice on the Store is on to start with: during a holiday the store shows its line on every page. Switch it off to keep the dates honest without the line. Removing a holiday has UNDO.

  4. Set a Daily Cut-off

Under Daily Cut-off, switch Daily Order Cut-off on, pick the Cut-off Time and press SAVE. Orders after it count from the next day; before it, the product page says "Order by" that time "to send today".

What Your Shoppers See

On the product page, the bag and checkout the delivery dates start from your next open day, and the next day after your cut-off. Before the cut-off the product page says "Order by" that time "to send today". During a holiday a slim line on every page says you are closed until when, and when orders are sent.

Each setting can be set or limited by Mercayo for one store, like any other setting, with a reason your admin shows. Holidays belong to your store only.

Good to Know Before You Start

  • One cut-off time for every day of the week.
  • Couriers' own holidays are not known: transit counts Monday to Saturday.
  • A holiday is at most 60 days long; a store with no open day in the next 120 days shows no dates.
  • Staff-made orders (drafts) and markets abroad keep their own dates.

Questions

About Closed Days, Holidays and Cut-off

Are orders refused during a holiday?

No. Orders are always taken; only the date a parcel can leave moves, and with it every delivery date the shopper sees.

When does the notice appear?

At midnight India time on the holiday's first day, and it goes at midnight after its last day, by itself.

Do my dispatch days still count?

Yes. The handling days set in Store Details are counted after your next open day, on open days only.

Does the cut-off need Closed Days on?

No. It is its own switch. With Closed Days off every day counts as open; with it on, an order after the cut-off counts from your next open day.

Can I write the notice in Hindi?

Yes: a holiday's notice is your own words. Mercayo's own words for the line can be changed in Localization like every other text.
