Cross-Sell Rows

Show What Goes Well With What They Are Looking At

A shopper looking at a phone case may need a screen guard; one looking at earrings may like the matching necklace. Mercayo's product pages suggest the next product from your pairings or from what your shoppers really buy together.

In short

What It Does

Product pages can carry four rows below the product:

  • Frequently Bought Together: this item and up to three others, each with a tick and, where it has options, a choice of option. The row adds up the ticked items, shows "You save ₹X on MRP", and adds them all in one press: ADD ALL 3 TO BAG, or ADD 2 TO BAG when one is unticked. The partners are the products you pair with this one, or products often bought in the same orders in your store ("Picked from what shoppers buy together"), or yours first and then from orders (to start with).
  • You May Also Like: products from the same category, the same collections, or with the same tags, as you choose. Products sharing the most with this one come first, then the newest.
  • More From the Collection: other products from the product's own collection, such as "More from Desi Edit", with VIEW ALL.
  • Recently Viewed: up to twelve products the shopper looked at last, kept in their own browser only, with CLEAR.

The rows never repeat each other: a product in Frequently Bought Together, in More From the Collection or among the add-ons is left out of You May Also Like. Only active products are suggested, and bought-together partners must also be in stock. You choose how many products the You May Also Like and More From rows show (8 to start with, from 4 to 12).

How "From Orders" Works

For each product, Mercayo looks at the most recent 2,000 orders that contain it and finds the other products that appear in at least two of those orders, most often first. Only your own store's orders count. A product with no such pairs simply shows no row, rather than a weak guess.

Where You Choose the Pairings

In the product editor, the Sold With It card holds this product's Frequently Bought Together list (up to 3 products, in your order) and its Add-ons (Pairs Well With) (up to 6, offered beside ADD TO BAG and in the bag, at their own price or a special add-on price). SAVE PAIRINGS updates the product page at once. Leave the first list empty and, if your setting allows, the row is filled from your orders.

The rows are sections of your product page template, so you can move or remove them in the page editor. The first three rows come with the page itself, the same for every shopper, so they never move the page as it loads; Recently Viewed is drawn in the shopper's browser after the page appears. For paid add-ons with a quick ADD, see bundles and add-ons.

For your store

Why It Matters

Most second items are found, not searched for. A good row on the product page shows the shopper what completes their purchase, and raises the order's value without a discount.

Using your own orders means the suggestions follow what your shoppers really do, not guesses, and they change as your catalogue and your shoppers change. Your own pairings let you lead where you know better: the matching dupatta, the right charger, the refill.

Recently Viewed saves the shopper who is comparing three options from hunting for the first one again, which matters on a phone where the back button is the only way round. And because each row is a section of your product template, you decide where it sits and whether it shows at all, so the page stays focused on the product first.

Step by step

How It Works

  1. Choose Where Suggestions Come From

In Settings → Product Page, set Frequently bought together (off, manual, from orders, or both) and You may also like (off, category, collections or tags). Switch More from the collection and Recently viewed on or off, and set Products in a row.

  2. Pair Products Yourself Where You Want

In the product editor's Sold With It card, choose up to 3 products bought together, in order, and up to 6 add-ons, then SAVE PAIRINGS. Products you leave empty can still get a bought-together row from your orders.

  3. Place the Rows

In the page editor, move or remove the Frequently Bought Together, You May Also Like, More From and Recently Viewed sections on your product template. A different template can carry a different set of rows.

  4. Shoppers Add the Set in One Press

On the product page, the shopper keeps or unticks each partner, chooses an option where needed, and presses ADD ALL. The bag opens with every item in it, priced by your offers as usual.

  5. Let Your Orders Do the Rest

With "from orders" or "both", products that are often bought together start to show each other as your orders grow. Nothing to maintain: inactive products drop out of every row on their own, and sold-out ones out of the bought-together row.

Mercayo

Mercayo's Controls

Mercayo's team can fix these settings for a store with a reason your admin shows; every change is in Mercayo's audit log, and the effective value is Mercayo's override, then your setting, then the default. "From orders" uses only your own store's orders, kept apart from every other store by the database itself. Recently viewed products are never sent to Mercayo or stored by your store: they stay in the shopper's browser.

Good to Know Before You Start

  • "From orders" needs enough orders in your store to find pairs: a product must appear with another in at least two orders.
  • Recently viewed stays in the shopper's browser, so it does not follow them to another device.
  • Frequently bought together shows at most three partners.
  • Suggestions are chosen by rules (your pairings, shared orders, shared categories, collections or tags), not personalised for each shopper.

Questions

About Cross-Sell Rows

Do the suggestions use other stores' data?

No, only your own store's products and orders. Each store's data is kept apart by the database itself.

Can I control exactly what shows?

Yes: pair products yourself in the Sold With It card and set Frequently bought together to "manual", so only your pairings show. Set You may also like to off, or to the categories, collections or tags you keep tidy.

Is recently viewed stored on your servers?

No, it is kept in the shopper's own browser, and the shopper can clear it from the row. The page only asks for the cards of those products to draw them.

Does each product need its own pairings?

No. With "from orders" or "yours first", products you have not paired still get suggestions from your orders. With "manual" only, the row shows the products you paired, and products with no pairings show no row.

What is the difference between bought together and add-ons?

Frequently Bought Together is a row of up to three full products shown below the product, added together with ADD ALL. Add-ons (Pairs Well With) are up to six smaller extras offered beside ADD TO BAG and again in the bag, and can have a special price with the main product.

Do the rows slow the product page down?

No. The first three rows come with the page's own data, already in the cached page, so they appear with it and never move it. Recently Viewed is drawn after the page appears.
