Subscribers, Popups and Floating Buttons
Grow Your List, Politely
Shoppers who are not ready to buy today may be glad to hear from you next week. Mercayo gives them polite ways to join your list, keeps proof of their consent, and lets you export it.

Kosha is a demo store on Mercayo. Its products, orders and customers are sample data.
In short
What It Does
Three Ways to Join, One Form
- a sign-up popup, asking for an email or a WhatsApp number, with your heading, text, picture and an optional welcome offer;
- a band at the top of the footer on every page, in the footer's own tone;
- a sign-up section you can place on the home page.
Any sign-up, wherever it happened, tells the popup never to ask that shopper again.
The Popup's Rules
It opens after some seconds on a page (12 to start with) or a scroll depth, whichever comes first, and on computers also when the pointer heads for the tabs ("exit intent"). You choose where: all shopping pages, the home page only, the home page and product lists, or product pages only; and from which page of a visit. It shows at most once a visit, never again once someone has joined, and not again for the days you choose after it is closed.
It never opens on the bag, checkout, thank-you, account, tracking, policy or password pages, never over another sheet or dialog, and never in the page editor's preview. It closes with the close button, NO, THANKS, a tap outside, Esc or a phone's back gesture. On wider screens it is centred with the picture beside the form; on phones it rises from the bottom as a sheet. It sits over the page, so nothing on the page moves, and it is never part of the cached page, so it costs your pages nothing in speed.
Consent Done Properly
A new email joins only after its owner taps the link in a confirmation email ("Confirm Your Subscription", sent in your store's name, the link working for 30 days); until then it is "Awaiting Confirmation" and gets nothing. The page the link opens asks for one more tap (CONFIRM or UNSUBSCRIBE), so a mail scanner opening the link changes nothing. A WhatsApp number joins at once with its consent recorded. The words the shopper agreed to are kept with their sign-up, with the date, the form and the page.
Your welcome offer is shown once they have confirmed (or at once for a WhatsApp sign-up), and only while its discount is live.
Subscribers in Your Admin
Marketing → Subscribers shows Subscribed (with the email and WhatsApp split), Awaiting Confirmation, Joined in 30 Days and Left in 30 Days; tabs by status; search by email or number; filters by channel and by where they signed up; and each person's consent record. UNSUBSCRIBE ends someone's subscription on request; DELETE RECORD (typed DELETE) erases them and their consent record when they ask for their data to be removed. EXPORT CSV gives the list with the consent wording, in India time.
Floating Buttons
A round WhatsApp chat button with your number and a first message, a back to top button after two screens of scrolling, and, on computers, a floating link such as "Shop bestsellers". They sit in the corner you choose, above a phone's home bar, rise above the product page's sticky buy bar while it shows, and stay off the bag and checkout, which have their own bars.
For your store
Why It Matters
Your list is the one audience no platform can take from you. A popup with sensible limits grows it without annoying shoppers, and double opt-in keeps the list real: no mistyped addresses, no one signed up by someone else, and a clear record of what each person agreed to, which is what India's data protection law asks a business to be able to show.
A popup that never opens at checkout and does not come back for a week after it is closed is one shoppers forgive; one that interrupts every page is one they leave.
The WhatsApp button is how many Indian shoppers prefer to ask a quick question before buying, from the size of a kurta to whether a case fits their phone, and it costs you nothing but a reply.
Step by step
How It Works
Write the Popup
In Marketing → Popup and Forms, give the popup a Heading (put a word between asterisks to emphasise it), a line of Text, a Picture from your store's media with its description, and a Welcome Offer from your codes. Empty fields use Mercayo's words, which you can change in Localization. The preview shows it as shoppers will.
Set When and Where It Opens
On the same screen, switch on Sign-up popup, choose whether it asks for an email or a WhatsApp number, the seconds or scroll depth, exit intent on computers, the pages, from which page of the visit, the days before it shows again, and whether it shows on phones.
Keep the Footer Band and Confirmation On
The Sign-up Forms card holds the footer band (email or WhatsApp) and Confirm emails by a link, both on to start with. Sign-up forms switches every form off at once if you ever need to.
Add Floating Buttons
Under Floating Buttons, set your WhatsApp number with its country code and a first message, the back-to-top button, the side the buttons sit on, and, if you like, a floating link with its label and the page it opens.
Look After Your List
Marketing → Subscribers lists who joined, where and when, with their consent. Unsubscribe or delete a record when someone asks, and EXPORT CSV to use the list in your email tool. A person who unsubscribes from any of your emails also stops getting bag reminders and review requests.
Your shoppers
What Your Shoppers See
A popup that waits until they have looked around, closes in one tap and does not come back for days; a footer band; and a WhatsApp button to ask a question. Joining by email takes one more tap in a confirmation email, after which any welcome code is shown. Leaving takes one tap too, and the answer to a sign-up never reveals whether an address was already on the list.

Settings
Settings You Control
Each one is in your admin. A new store starts with the value shown.
Mercayo
Mercayo's Controls
Mercayo's team can lock any of these for a store, forcing or limiting it, with a reason your admin shows; every change is in Mercayo's audit log, and the effective value is Mercayo's override, then your setting, then the default. Confirmation emails are Mercayo's own messages, sent in your store's name and logo; they are not marketing, so they carry no unsubscribe footer, and ignoring one is the way out. Demo stores' sample subscribers are never emailed. Each store's list is kept apart by the database, and nobody can write to it except through the sign-up forms and your admin.
Limits today
Good to Know Before You Start
- Email campaigns to the list are sent from Marketing → Campaigns, and offers to WhatsApp sign-ups from Marketing → WhatsApp; the CSV is there if you prefer your own email tool.
- One popup per store.
- The welcome offer is one shared code from your discounts; a single-use code for each subscriber is not built.
- Subscribers carry no tags of their own, and a subscriber list cannot be imported.
Questions
About Subscribers, Popups and Floating Buttons
Will the popup annoy my shoppers?
It waits for the time or scroll you choose, shows at most once a visit, never at checkout or on the bag, account or policy pages, never over another window, and stays away for the days you choose after it is closed. Once someone joins anywhere, it never asks them again.
Why double opt-in?
It proves the person owns the email, keeps your list clean, and stores what they agreed to, with the date and the page, which is the kind of consent record India's data protection law (the DPDP Act) asks businesses to keep. Nobody can sign up someone else.
Can I send newsletters from Mercayo?
Yes. Marketing → Campaigns sends an email to your subscribers or to a customer segment, only to people who agreed, with a one-click unsubscribe; you can preview, test and schedule it. You can also export your subscribers as CSV, with each person's consent wording, for your own email tool.
Can the popup offer a discount?
Yes. Choose a code from your discounts as the Welcome Offer. It is shown to people once they have confirmed their email (or at once for a WhatsApp sign-up), and only while that discount is live.
Does the popup slow my store down?
No. It is never part of the cached page: its code loads only when its moment comes, and it opens over the page, so nothing moves and the page's first view is untouched.
What happens when someone asks to be removed?
UNSUBSCRIBE stops your store's newsletter and offers to them while order updates still reach them. If they ask for their data to be removed, DELETE RECORD erases them and their consent record; their email stays on the stop list so nothing marketing reaches them again.
Where does the floating WhatsApp button go?
It opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and your first message, which the shopper can change before sending. It appears only once you have entered a real number; there is no default.
