In short

What It Does

On the product page, the Customer Reviews section shows:

  • the average and the count, and five rating bars, each one a filter ("Show 5-star reviews (12)");
  • "With photos" and the variants reviewers chose as filter chips, and on phones a Filter Reviews sheet;
  • a strip of review photos that opens each one large;
  • review cards with a byline (name · city · the variant · Verified buyer), the date written out ("12 Oct 2026"), Read more for long ones, and your reply as a STORE REPLY panel;
  • two columns of cards on wide screens, six reviews first and then more on request, and a link to all the reviews across your store.

Writing a review: WRITE A REVIEW opens a short form: a star rating with words ("Not for me" to "Love it"), their name, an optional title, the review ("What did you like? How does it look, feel and fit?"), a mobile number or email that is never shown, and, if they like, "Which one did you get?", their city and up to 4 photos (you choose 1 to 6). Photos can be JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, up to 10 MB each, and are never squeezed on upload.

Verified buyer is decided by the database, never typed in: a shopper who is signed in and has a delivered order of that product writes a verified review, linked to that order. A guest whose typed phone or email matches a delivered order is marked MATCHES AN ORDER for you in the admin only, because a typed number proves nothing.

Every review waits for you. In Reviews, the tabs Waiting, Approved and Rejected hold every review with its stars, product, variant and the reviewer's private contact. APPROVE or REJECT each one and write Your Public Reply if you like, one per review, which you can change or remove. Photos are checked with their review, and you can HIDE any single photo (and SHOW it again). You never edit a shopper's words.

Abuse limits: 3 reviews per address per hour, one review per product per phone or email, links removed from the text, and a hidden field that only bots fill in.

The reviews page at /reviews lists every approved review of the store, newest first, 12 a page with page numbers, with star and "With photos" filters, each card naming its product. Ratings also show on product cards, in your home page's review sections, and in your product pages' data for Google.

Asking for reviews: with Ask for a review set to a number of days, shoppers get an email that many days after the order is marked delivered, listing the items still on sale, each with a link straight to its review form.

For your store

Why It Matters

A product with honest reviews and real photos sells more confidently than one without, especially for shoppers buying from a store they have not heard of before. A photo from a real buyer answers "does it really look like this?" better than any studio picture.

Approving each review keeps spam and abuse off your store, and the Verified buyer mark, which only a signed-in shopper with a delivered order can earn, makes your good reviews believable. Replying in public shows every later shopper that a real team stands behind the products, and a calm reply to a poor review often does more for trust than ten five-star ones.

Asking at the right moment, a few days after delivery when the product is in daily use, is how small stores collect their first reviews. And because approved reviews are part of the cached product page, they cost the page nothing in speed.

Step by step

How It Works

  1. Keep Reviews On

    In Settings → Reviews and Questions → Reviews, Product reviews is on to start with, and Show the reviewer's city too. Under Review Photos, photos are on, up to 4 per review; set 1 to 6, or switch photos off.

  2. Ask for Reviews After Delivery

    Set Ask for a review to a number of days after delivery, up to 60 (0 means do not ask). The email goes once per order, to orders that have an email address, and lists each item still on sale with its own WRITE A REVIEW link. A shopper who unsubscribes from your emails gets no more requests.

  3. Shoppers Write, With Photos

    On the product page, or from the request email, the shopper fills in the short form and adds photos straight after sending it. They see "Thank you! Your review will appear once the store has read it." Nothing shows on your store yet.

  4. Approve, Reject, Reply

    In Marketing → Reviews, work through the Waiting tab. Check the stars, the words and every photo; APPROVE or REJECT; hide a single photo if it shows something it should not; and add a public reply where it helps (SAVE REPLY). The home screen counts the reviews waiting for you.

  5. They Show Everywhere at Once

    An approved review updates the product's average, its bars, its cards, your /reviews page and your home page's review sections straight away, even on cached pages. Rejecting it, hiding a photo or changing your reply shows at once too.

  6. Give Your Team the Right Access

    Seeing reviews and their private contacts, and approving or replying, are two separate rights in your staff roles. The ready-made Marketer role can moderate; the Support role can read. The admin hides buttons a person cannot use, and the database refuses them anyway.

Your shoppers

What Your Shoppers See

Reviews with photos, filters by stars and by variant, a clear Verified buyer mark ("Reviews from shoppers who received this item are marked Verified buyer"), and your replies. Writing one takes a minute, their phone or email is never shown, and a few days after delivery an email asks them to. If they later delete their account, their review stays with "A customer" as its name and without their city.

Mercayo

Mercayo's Controls

Mercayo's team can switch reviews off for a store, switch photos off, or cap them (at 2, for example), with a reason your admin shows; every change is in Mercayo's audit log, and the effective value is Mercayo's override, then your setting, then the default. Verified buyer is decided by the database from a signed-in shopper's own delivered order, for every store, so it means the same everywhere. Review photos are kept in your store's own media, checked by their real file type and size, and served resized like your product photos.

Limits today

Good to Know Before You Start

  • Review requests go by email only; a WhatsApp request is not built.
  • Every review is moderated; there is no automatic approval.
  • Reviews cannot be imported from another platform; they are included when you export your store's data.
  • Photos can be added only just after writing the review, while it waits for you; they cannot be added to an approved review.
  • A guest's review is never marked Verified buyer, even when the phone matches an order; only a signed-in buyer's is.
  • Review requests are marketing emails: they are paid from your message wallet, never from your plan's included messages.

Questions

About Product Reviews

Can I edit a bad review?

No. You can approve or reject it, hide a photo, and reply in public. Shoppers' words are never edited, which is what makes your reviews believable. A calm public reply that explains what you did is usually the best answer to a poor review.

What makes someone a verified buyer?

They wrote the review while signed in to your store, and their account has a delivered order of that product. The database checks it and links the review to that order. A guest whose typed phone or email matches an order shows MATCHES AN ORDER to you only.

Do reviews help with Google?

Approved ratings are included in your product pages' data for search engines, as the product's average rating and review count. Whether a search engine shows stars is its own choice.

Can I hide one photo but keep the review?

Yes. Any single photo can be hidden with HIDE in the review's card, and shown again with SHOW. The review and its other photos stay as they are.

Who gets the review request email?

Orders marked delivered that have an email address, the number of days after delivery you choose. One email per order lists every item still on sale, each with its own link to the review form. Nobody who unsubscribed from your emails gets one.

What if a shopper writes the same review twice?

Only one review per product per phone or email is taken, and one address can send at most 3 reviews an hour. Links are taken out of the text before you even see it.

Can reviews show on my home page?

Yes. The home page's review sections, such as testimonials and a rating line, read your approved reviews. Add or move them in the page editor; see home page sections.
