You can change your sign-in password at any time from the admin. Your password belongs to you, not to a store: the same password signs you in to every store you are on.
Change It
- Open your account menu (your name at the foot of the side menu; on a phone, the More sheet) and choose Change Password.
- The page says "Choose a new password for" your email.
- Type your Current Password, then your New Password and Type It Again.
- Press CHANGE PASSWORD. "Your password is changed."
Then Back to your store.
| Rule | Message If Not Met |
|---|---|
| At least 8 characters | Use at least 8 characters. |
| Not a common or easily guessed password | Choose a stronger password, one that is harder to guess. |
| The two new passwords match | The two passwords are not the same. |
| The current password is right | Your current password is not right. |
Never Set a Password?
If you created your store with a code and never set a password, the page says: "Signed up with a code and never set a password? Sign out and use Forgot password to set one." See Signing In.
Good to Know
- Changing your password does not turn off two-step sign-in; you still need your authenticator code.
- A strong password is long: a short sentence you remember is better than a short word with symbols.
Questions
What if I forgot my current password?
Sign out and use Forgot password? on the sign-in page to set a new one with a 6-digit code.
Does this change my password for every store?
Yes. You have one account; the password is the same for every store you are on.
