Kosha is a demo store on Mercayo. Its products, orders and customers are sample data.
In short
What It Does
Your store's sign-in page offers CONTINUE WITH GOOGLE beside the codes by email and phone ("Sign in with your email or Google. You can also use your mobile number."). The shopper picks their Google account, and their account in your store opens, with their orders, invoices, saved addresses, wishlist and rewards.
Which Account Opens
Mercayo asks Google only for the shopper's name and email address, and Google proves the email is theirs. Then, in your store:
- If this Google account has signed in to your store before, that account opens.
- Otherwise, if your store already has an account with the email Google proved, that account opens and Google is linked to it, so a shopper who used email codes before keeps their orders and addresses.
- Otherwise a new account is made, with the name and email from Google.
On their account page, under Ways to Sign In, the shopper sees "Linked: you can sign in with Google", and can add a mobile number or another email, each confirmed with a code, so they can sign in either way.
Safe by Design
- Google returns to one address that Mercayo registered for all stores, so your free address and your own domain both work with no set-up at Google.
- Only the browser that started the sign-in can finish it, only in the store where it started, and only once. A link copied out of the middle of the sign-in is useless on its own.
- Mercayo keeps only scrambled forms of the one-time values used along the way, and they expire within minutes.
Per Store, Like Every Shopper Account
Shopper accounts are per store: signing in with Google in your store does not create anything in another store, and another store never learns that the shopper uses yours. When a shopper deletes their account, the Google link is erased with the rest of their personal details.
Google sign-in is for shoppers. Your team signs in to the admin with their email and password, and a code from an authenticator app where two-step sign-in applies.
For your store
Why It Matters
Every extra step at sign-in loses some shoppers. Most people on Android already have a Google account on their phone, so Google sign-in is often the quickest way to an account, and to their saved addresses at checkout.
It also needs nothing to arrive: no email to open, no SMS to wait for on a weak signal. For shoppers who want an account but do not want another password or another code, one tap is the whole job.
Signed-in shoppers come back more easily: their orders, invoices, wishlist and saved addresses are waiting for them, and checkout fills itself in. Their order history and rewards are in one place, and the email Google proved means your order emails reach a real inbox. Google sign-in lowers the effort of getting there to a single tap, while guest checkout stays open for anyone who prefers it.
Step by step
How It Works
Keep It Switched On
In Settings → Shopper Accounts, Sign in with Google is on to start with, beside sign-in with an email code and with a phone code. You need no Google account, developer console or keys of your own: Mercayo runs the connection with Google for every store.
Shoppers Tap the Button
On your store's sign-in page, they press CONTINUE WITH GOOGLE. Google's own page opens, where they choose their account (or sign in to Google, if they are not already) and agree to share their name and email with your store.
They Are Signed In
Google sends them back to your store, which shows "Signing you in…" for a moment and opens their account: an existing one if Google or their email is already known in your store, a new one otherwise. Their orders and saved addresses are ready.
If They Stop Halfway
If the shopper closes Google's page, your store says "You stopped signing in with Google. Choose another way, or try again." If something fails, they are asked to try again or use their email. Nothing is half-created.
They Manage Their Ways to Sign In
On their account page, Ways to Sign In shows Google as linked, and lets them add or confirm a mobile number and an email. Your team sees the customer as usual in Customers, with the orders they place.

What Your Shoppers See
A CONTINUE WITH GOOGLE button on the sign-in page, next to the email and phone codes. One tap opens Google's own page to choose an account; they come back signed in, to their own account in your store, with their orders and saved addresses. On their account page, Google shows as a linked way to sign in.

Mercayo
Mercayo's Controls
Mercayo runs the Google sign-in connection for every store, so you need no Google developer account. Mercayo's team can switch it off for a store with a reason your admin shows. Mercayo never receives the shopper's Google password: the shopper types it only on Google's own page, and Google tells Mercayo only who they are (their name and email).

Good to Know Before You Start
- The button shows only once Mercayo's Google sign-in is set up on the live service.
- Other social sign-ins (Facebook, Apple) are not offered.
- Google sign-in is for shoppers only; your team signs in to the admin with email and password.
- A Google sign-in opens an account in your store only; the shopper's accounts in other Mercayo stores are separate.
Questions
About Google Sign-In
Do I need a Google Cloud account?
No. Mercayo sets up Google sign-in once for every store, including stores on their own domain. There is nothing to register, configure or pay for at Google.
Can my staff sign in with Google?
No. Google sign-in is for shoppers. Your team signs in to the admin with their email and password, plus a code from an authenticator app where two-step sign-in applies.
Do shoppers still need a phone number at checkout?
Yes. Checkout always asks for a mobile number for delivery, whichever way the shopper signed in.
Can I switch Google sign-in off?
Yes, in Settings → Shopper Accounts. Sign-in by phone and email codes stays, and shoppers who signed in with Google before can still sign in with an email code to the same email.
What if a shopper already has an account with the same email?
Google proves the email belongs to them, so their existing account opens and Google is linked to it. Their orders, addresses and wishlist are all there; no second account is made.
What does Google share with my store?
Only the shopper's name and email address, which Google has confirmed. Mercayo does not ask Google for contacts, photos or anything else, and never sees their Google password.
Does it work on my own domain?
Yes. Google returns to one address Mercayo registered for all stores, then sends the shopper back to your domain, so your own domain needs nothing set up at Google.
