Search Terms and Product Insights

What shoppers search your store for (and the searches that found nothing), each product's views, conversion, sales and profit, and profit by product from the costs you enter.

Three ways to see what shoppers want and what earns you money.

Top Searches and Searches with No Results

In Analytics › Reports, the Marketing and Traffic group has Top Searches ("What shoppers searched your store for, most often first.") and Searches with No Results. A search that finds nothing is a shopper asking for something you do not show: add the product, a synonym in Search Settings, or a redirect.

Product Insights

On a product's sales card in the editor, press INSIGHTS. This Product's Numbers for the dates you choose, "Compared with" the period before:

NumberWhat It Counts
ViewsHow many times its page was opened. A visitor counts once a day.
ConversionOrders with this product for every hundred visitors to its page
Net SalesWhat it sold for before GST and after discounts, in orders not cancelled or returned undelivered
Gross ProfitNet sales less the cost of the units sold, where a cost is given
Return RateUnits asked back in a return, for every hundred sold

Below: By Day (Units Sold and Page Views), At a Glance (first sale, Rating, Returns, Cost of Units Sold, Margin) and Variants (Sold, Net Sales, Margin, In Stock). Without costs it says "Give each variant its cost to see profit and margin." with Add costs. Seeing it needs the reports right ("Your role cannot see the store's numbers.").

Profit by Product

Enter each variant's Cost (₹) in the product editor. Each order line keeps the cost of its day, so Profit by Product (Reports, Sales group) shows what you earned per product. Lines sold before you entered a cost use the cost given later and are counted as estimated; the report says how many. The cost is taken as excluding GST.

A Weekly Routine

  1. Open Searches with No Results for the last 7 days. For each common one, decide: add the product, add a synonym (a shopper typing "cover" should find "case"), or point a menu link to the right collection.
  2. Open Top Searches: the words shoppers use most belong in your product titles, your menu and your home page.
  3. Open INSIGHTS on your three best sellers: a product with many views and few orders needs better photos, a clearer price or more reviews.
