The Totals
New Customers (first order in these months), Came Back (of them, those who ordered again in a later month) and Repeat Rate.
Monthly Cohorts
Each row is the customers whose first order was in that month, with what they spent. Each cell is the share of them who ordered again that many months later: +1 Mo is the next month. Darker cells mean more came back. Counted orders are confirmed, shipped, delivered and closed orders, never cancelled ones, on India time.
RFM Groups
Your buyers by how recently, how often and how much they bought, with their customers and spend. SEGMENTS opens Customers › Segments, where you can see who is in each group and send them a campaign.
Reading a Cohort
Read across a row to see one month's customers over time. A row that stays dark for several months means those customers keep coming back; a row that fades fast means most bought once. Read down a column to compare months: if +1 Mo is darker for recent rows than for older ones, more of your new customers now order again within a month. Striped cells are months that have not happened yet for that row.
A customer counts once in their first month, and once in each later month they ordered in, however many orders they placed that month. Guest orders count under the account that holds the same phone number, so one person is one customer.
Questions
Why does a month show fewer customers than my orders that month?
A row counts only customers whose first order was in that month. Customers who ordered before belong to an earlier row.
What can I do about customers who do not come back?
Send a campaign to the At Risk or Can't Lose group from Customers › Segments, perhaps with a code, or turn on bag and browse reminders in Marketing › Campaigns.
