RTO Shield
Keep Cash on Delivery. Lose Fewer Parcels.
RTO Shield scores every cash order from 0 to 100 with its reasons, asks a risky shopper for a little more before you ship, and shows you where parcels come back.
- In every plan
- Scoring on from day one
- Shoppers never see a score

Kosha is a demo store on Mercayo. Its products, orders and customers are sample data.
The problem
A Refused Parcel Costs You Twice
The courier charges both ways, the stock is away for days, and sometimes it comes back damaged. Most stores either accept every cash order or switch COD off and lose good shoppers.
RTO Shield keeps cash on delivery open and spends your effort only where the risk is.
The score
A Score from 0 to 100, with Its Reasons
Every cash order is scored the moment it is placed, from what was known then. Prepaid orders are not scored. The admin always shows why, never just a number.
Tick what is true for an order and watch the score. These are real points from Mercayo's model.
Calm · under 35Medium · 35 to 64High · 65 and over
Each store can move both levels.
RTO risk for this order
63 of 100
With part payment set to "medium and high", checkout asks for part of the total online now and the rest in cash.
Actions
Ask a Little More, Only When It Is Risky
Each action is off until you choose it, for high risk only or for medium and high. If an action cannot run (no Razorpay for part payment, for example), the order is held for a call instead, and its card says so.
Nothing is asked. The order goes through as usual.
Ask for the code to confirm the mobile, or ask for part payment online now.
Hold for a call. The order waits in Unconfirmed until your team phones the shopper.
The shopper is never refused silently and can always pay online instead.
Mercayo Trust Network
What Other Stores Saw, Without Sharing Who
A number that refused parcels at other Mercayo stores adds to the score, and one that took parcels and refused none takes points away. No store ever learns who the shopper is or where else they ordered.
- 1A COD Parcel Settles
Delivered, refused or cancelled before shipping, at a real store that takes part. Demo stores never count.
- 2The Number Is Normalised
Every way of writing a mobile becomes one form.
098765 43210 → +919876543210 - 3Then Hashed with a Secret Key
The key lives in the database. No person or role can read it.
HMAC-SHA256(key, +91…) - 4Only Counts Are Kept
Delivered, refused and cancelled, per month, for 12 months, then deleted.
- 5Answered in Bands
Only when 2 or more other stores saw the number, and only as 1, 2 to 3, or 4 and more.
Never keptNameAddressWhich storeProductsOrder valueOrder number
When a shopper deletes their account, every count for their number is erased across all stores at once. A store can choose not to take part.
Part Payment Rules
Decide Who Pays What, Before It Ships

What shoppers see
Most Shoppers See Nothing at All
A shopper whose order looks risky is asked before placing it, in the same words as any checkout step: confirm the mobile with a code, or pay a part online now. They never see a score.
“COD orders are checked for fraud and RTO prevention with the help of our platform's shared delivery records.” This notice shows under cash on delivery when the network is on.

Mercayo
Mercayo's Controls
Every RTO Shield setting can be forced or limited by Mercayo for a store, with a reason your admin shows; a change applies to the next order at once. The shared PIN code figures use counts only, never shoppers' details, and come only from real stores (demo stores never count). A store can choose not to use them.

Good to Know Before You Start
- Asking for part payment needs Razorpay connected; otherwise such orders are held for a call.
- The score is a guide from your store's and Mercayo's history, not a guarantee: a call is still the surest check.
- Orders made by your team, and older orders scored later, get a score but no action.
Questions
About RTO Shield
Does RTO Shield refuse orders?
No. It never refuses a shopper. It can hold an order for your call, or ask for a code or a small part online, and the shopper can always pay online instead.
Will my good customers be bothered?
Rarely. A mobile that accepted parcels in your store before loses points, and the actions are off until you choose them, for medium and high or high only.
What does "Mercayo's stores" mean for a PIN code?
While your store has fewer than five settled cash parcels to a PIN code, the score may use how many cash parcels came back to that PIN code across Mercayo's real stores: counts only, never names or numbers. You can switch it off.
Can I see why an order was held?
Yes. The RTO Risk card on the order lists every reason with its points, and what was done.
Does it work with the confirmation call?
Yes. Held orders are marked Unconfirmed and join the same Unconfirmed tab, MARK CONFIRMED and optional clean-up.
Are prepaid orders scored?
No. Only cash on delivery orders are scored.
